Sdr radio is probably the most effective today. You can monitor 6 to 8 channels. Which with the right software stitches them together and gives you their full channel. Aka encryption and trunking is no longer an issue. And it gets better every month. The local police were confused as to how I could hear everything as I repeated back to them everything they had said.

010323 - It's pronounced "You-Nih-Den" For someone who seems to know a little something about scanning, Uniden has been around a VERY long time. Please honor them by pronouncing the Name correctly. Thanks! Oh and HAPYY NEW YEAR!!

California and parts of Oregon are reversing the encryption laws. The Media does not like encryption as well and they are fighting back.

@@QRPadventures 010323 Oh boy! I hope this is true! Is there a proposed law coming to transfer back to non-encryption? San Diego Sheriff has changed to encrypted. What a pain. I'm getting back into scanning her in San Diego. Sure would like to get a downloadable list of frequencies to listen to ow. Use to be a "Scan Fan" reader and follower but the magazine and group seems to have moved on. Not sure why i have to pay for frequency listings on certain websites/KZfaq channels.

Thats right here in Australia police are encrypted here and no scanner can Puck them up and nsw fire and rescue use a computer to transmit to their headquarters so scanner is finished here.

All the uniden digital scanners I have got are GARBAGE . Most of the fire tapouts are so broken up cant even hear what they are going to .Keep in mind I have been using scanners for over 28 years as a news stringer.

Please don't highlight my msg.... Scanner should not have remote access.... And human being shape should not b visible instead an icon (circle or rectangle) can b used for portable scanners which r used for enquiries. Saying this as right enemy neighbour using scanner in the night till afternoon. They should not see us sleeping. Please tell all the scanner manufacturers to do this change immediately for enquiry scanners immediately so that our torture by enemy neighbour is put to an end. I have given police complaint also to do this change immediately.... Else I will give complaint on all scanner manufacturing departments including its software developer department......
