Prusa really kicked the industry in the nuts with its quality for price back in the day but they have really not done much since. The mini is really good at that for its size but in the large format sector they really haven't done anything recently. I'm glad another company is now here doing the same thing. Without companies pushing the quality for price envelope so aggressively we would just keep seeing the same printers come out over and over like we have the last few years.
@hassosigbjoernson5738

And don't forget Creality! After Prusa was known they came with the Ender 2 first (a 160 bucks machine back than and maybe the blueprint for the Prusa Mini) and achieved a solid base with their Ender 3 models for a capable i3 Mk2 machine for below 300 bucks! And despite Prusa: they had and do have larger machines available like the CR-10 or Ender max with up to 400x400 or larger. With the 500 bucks Ender S1 Pro and the Sonic Pad they are also ahead of Prusa in terms of features, speed and Klipper. A large community with lots of tipps, tricks and modding can also be found... From what it looks like now: it's easy to compete with Prusa, because of price! But competing with Creality price wise, with production capabilities and the arrival of Klipper to these low cost machines, the air is getting thinner and thinner!

Many who've not used the P1P might think you're doing the 'corporate' thing in praising the printer cos you got it free + whatever other benefits from Bambu Labs. I've had my pre order P1P for a week & besides some acclimatization time, a clogged nozzle (hasnt been able to clear it yet so just swapped it out with spare) & misplaced pei sheet causing an error msg (ya I'm dumb & blind), the printer's been a revelation. Its 3-4x faster than my Mingda MagicianX with better print quality. It even does great with TPU tho I'm buying a 0.8mm hotend for that. So far, I love it. 3d printing is now fun for me. Good, accurate & most importantly, honest review. Thanks

Tbh, if I didn't order 10x of these to replace my Prusas, I'd be feeling scared of being left behind. These printers are close to how printers should have been for the last 3 years.

I just open mine up yesterday and played around with it. I tried some TPU and clogged up the nozzle. I saw a video on here where you hit up the smallest Allen wrench with a fire, lighter, etc. and then you stick it in the hot end. Let it cool and pull out the clog. It worked for me. You might give it a try.

I have had the same experience, my girlfriend has gotten herself into 3-D printing, and ended up going with the P1P. I have absolutely zero experience in any sort of CNC laser cutting or 3-D printing and was easily able to figure out how to use the slicer and start printing things with absolutely zero issues. even with the many mistakes a newbie like myself has made like getting the oil from my hands all over the bed, putting the bed back on wrong, have the printer on a horrifically unstable table, and many more I’m sure, and the printer has just worked flawlessly nonetheless. We have had it for about three weeks now and it has been printing nonstop. no issues. Not even a single error messages despite all of the operator errors. I am looking to enclose it and move onto some carbon fiber filled filaments and ABS. My thoughts as a complete novice in this Hobby is: if your goal is to turn STL and step files into physical objects with the least amount of resistance, and while doing the least amount of research, then this printer is certainly a good choice. I can see a future where a 3-D printer is just as common as an HP printer in most homes if bamboo labs, or anyone else keeps turning out these highly beginner friendly printers. With that being said, I like to tinker, and I’ve already installed softfever, and have found myself wishing there was more options in the slicer, at least options that already matched the tutorials that I could find about clipper. All in all, this printer works great.

I bought the X1 Carbon for my 14yr old son and he absolutely loves it. The speed, print quality, and calibration is mid blowing… This less bare bones unit reviewed by you today is cool and a great price but the value of the X1 Carbon and what it does is so worth it. If you have the money I’d still by the X1 Carbon over this. For the last year my son has been using an Ender 3 V2, even the mods he’s don’t to his Ender there is absolutely no comparison. My son loved his Ender and literally printed over 700 projects some for prototype, some for fun, and 90% to make money selling a product he makes for a local business. The X1 has taken his product to a whole new level! It so cool to see a boy dive so deep into a skill set so young…

So it wasn’t just me then. Based on the bit of info I got it seemed like it was unique to early review units then. I am just glad the issue was firmware and not hardware. I love my x1 for printing abs for other printer builds but the P1P has been awesome for really most other things.

Even better price/ performance than an Ender 3 S1 with Klipper added (Sonic Pad) or an Voron Switchwire Ender 3?! I mean ... you do get that building experience and with that the knowledge gain over the P1P. Spare parts should also be easy to get for Ender 3s, especially when looking at used market! And here in Germany the 800 bucks price tag is at the same level than ender S1 + Sonic Pad or a Switchwire Kit.

For me I use my printer to make end use parts for work so the X1 Carbon is a god send. I can print parts in 3 hours that look beautiful vs 12 hours with a high warping rate on my old ender 3 v2. I love being able to save my prints and just being able to load some asa and pressing a button to have a replacement part. I've seen a lot of people in the 3d print community be pissed about how easy the X1 carbon is to operate and how it ruins the fun. For me, being able to have a part back in 3 hours vs having to stop work to mess with a printer for 3 days is well worth it

It seems there are several groups in the 3D print community. I fall into a group similar to you, it’s a piece of hardware in my shop that I need to produce parts accurately and quickly. While I’ve enjoyed learning I need to produce parts. It’s not a hobby for me. No I don’t just 3D print, but when I need a part time is king. All that being said I have few complaints on the printers I have other then the amount of time it takes start to finish. I’ve been waiting and watching the Bambu labs printers waiting to see how they do before making a purchase. And while some machines have had issues overall most users are incredibly happy with the speed and quality of the printers. I likely will make a purchase after the first quarter on one of each, an x1c and a p1p. The x1c for the ability out of the box for carbon/abs and the p1p for petg and pla+. We just placed preorders for 2 flsun v400. The 4 new machines should all be significantly faster then the assortment we have now.

It's one thing to have a high-end, "prosumer" printer in which you expect to trade off personal repair/upgrading/modifications AND high price point for reliability. But it is a completely different story to have these same restrictions and still be priced @ $800 (counting taxes and shipping). The only reason I can justify either printer at this time is to buy these as business assets and write down the cost or schedule depreciation. It'll still take a hunk of money out of business (or my own pocket if I have an LLC), though, so I will need to find ways to justify this expense (return on investment - ROI). And for now, I just can see doing it. Especially since I can build a CoreXY at, or just above the P1P price.

@@thomaswiley666 this is crazy underpriced considering the features of the p1p. It's clear you haven't built a corexy kit from scratch. You'd be looking at $1000 plus raspi + 40-50 hours of assembly and 10-20 hours of tuning.
@thomaswiley666

@@morbus5726 It's clear that you are making unfound assumptions as I have built several Cores by sourcing materials in bulk, printing where needed, etc. You might be thinking about the costs of "kits" but I don't want to assume that's what you are thinking. Also, this is not "crazy upderpriced" as this company is Chinese, kitting and assembling these units in China. Their margins are quite hefty and have room to drop to kill off any Western company deciding to build a knock-off.

honestly so happy the 3D printing community got such a new amazing company like Bambu Labs. This hobby has really been lacking innovation for years now, Prusa Labs basically became Intel as in they knew they were the top dog in terms of high end consumer printers (not talking about the 10k+ printers for businesses/schools) and because of that they didnt innovate much at all recently. Bambu Labs P1P and the other one are like luxery cars when compared to Prusa's now lol. It's honestly crazy Prusa is still charge nearly 800-1000 dollars for the i3 Mk3s+ when you can get a P1P for 700 dollars and it's 10x better. Hopefully we get more innovation from other companies in the future, this was a huge wake up call for this hobby. I also hope the Anker printer also has a success story as well as Bambu Labs has had.

As said in the end of the video, my hope with the introduction of these machines is that the industry is forced to up their game. Not that it appears the Bambu labs printers are bad but if they continue the way they are going and everyone else stays where they are at I’m not sure all of the other companies will survive. The Bambu labs printers are a statement, it’s a new company with arguably better hardware then the rest at a fairly affordable price. The legacy manufacturers should be able to meet and exceed what Bambu labs have done, and I suspect there is more on the horizon from Bambu labs. I see lots of people saying just buy so and so printer and do these things to it and it will be better, or just build a voron, and to be fair some people want to and like to do that, but many people just want to buy a printer and make some stuff and not wait a week for it to print or have to constantly upgrade and modify a machine. While I still have reservations about how these new machines will hold up and perform long term those reservations are dwindling quickly. Enough so that we have made plans to make a Bambu labs purchase after the first quarter only because during the first quarter we are making upgrades and redesigns of the work space.

A good summary which fits into the hype around the P1P! But one thing is missing in the video! *A comparison to a similar printer and the lack of different aspects of this hobby when buying a P1P!* So it would have been really nice if you could compare this P1P to the experience (!) of building your Voron 0.1 LDO Kit or the Voron Switchwire! Here in Germany I need to invest like 800 bucks for that P1P because of VAT, so even a 900 bucks Switchwire Kit is in that price range! I think you missed that part, because you already have built some Vorons and got the joy and the experience from it. But think about newbies entering this hobby! Wouldn't it be great to get a similar experience from investing a bit under 1K? So a comparison from that perspective is kinda missing, which would lead to a show off between Voron 0.1, Voron Switchwire and the P1P if you don't want to include the Prusa Mk3 Kit. It's self building vs. "only a tool", modifying vs. stock, building first vs. printing half an hour after unboxing, RepRep idea vs. OEM, speed vs. more speed and also quality vs. quality! Also the missing features in their slicer or the availability profile from minute 1 could be worth some words. And there is another thing I look into from a beginners perspective: *increasing level of difficulty.* When I would buy an Ender 3 Pro and begin printing with it. Than maybe add Klipper with an old Netbook laying around or an Raspi to increase speed. Add Octoprint for a webcam (with an old smartphone) to finally cnvert it to a Switchwire ... THIS would be an upgrade path with gaining lots of knowledge in setting up software, building, tuning. Wouldn't it? Off course: the P1P is the fast route to arrive at having a "fast tool". But what if something doesn't work properly: can somebody fix that without the experience you have? And: isn't the journey the reward with that hobby? Greetings! p.s. After the P1P is available for some weeks now (according to reviews coming out), it would be nice to know how far the addition of extras can go! You mentioned a enclosure for ABS. Are the standard designs sufficient enough to enclose the printer? Can an chamber fan be added and controlled via the screen, as well as a filter for printing ABS? 4:21 That would be cool to find out! p.p.s. You don't have the link for the AMS system tested in the description or am I too drunk?!

I have an X1C, which I find amazing for printing ABS. After experimenting with a few things I've settled on using the engineering plate with glue for ABS. I have a 3rd party PEI sheet that works really well for PLA but I find it releases too soon as it cools and my ABS prints warp. (I don't have the Bambu PEI because I like my bottom layers to be super smooth, so I don't like the textured surface.) I've recently had a desire to have a very very accurate printer with a 0.2mm nozzle to print very small things. The X1C is so accurate with even a 0.4mm that I feel I could get close to resin accuracy - at least when viewed from "table distance," rather than with a close-up camera shot - with the 0.2mm. But the X1C isn't awesome for PLA and it's really overkill for a "minis printer" so I'm currently wondering if I should try to save for a P1P. (Alas, there are many things competing for my 100$ a month budget, so most likely I'll just do nozzle swaps on the X1.) But yeah - all the folks just using their X1Cs for PLA and PETG are using their Ferrari to buy groceries; if those materials are all you print with, I think the P1P is going to be a better choice.

@@morbus5726 the prusa is an easy to use printer and is consistent but very over priced. The kit price should be the built price. Our print farm had 30 prusa mk3s and still felt slow. 10 x1c could replace all of the prusa.

Looks like a good replacement for my wife's Flashforge when she's ready for a new printer. The Flashforge has been a good printer for her but dang, I'm not sure how companies like Flashforge are going to survive with a printer like this available. Also, that Uncle Jessy P1P is a great example of how much fun this printer could be to wrap.

I think it'd be interesting to see how the new FLSUN V400 compares to this speed wise, or maybe more the X1 Carbon. I've been interested in both the V400 and the P1P. P1P Seems like it'd yield better quality overall though but would still be a cool comparison.
@morbus5726

It's the exact same motion system as the x1 carbon, so it can go faster than the flsun v400. The v400 has the advantage of a higher flowing nozzle, but the p1p seems to be an easier to use machine (also quite a bit cheaper).
@techguy38
@techguy38 Жыл бұрын
@@morbus5726 That’s incorrect the V400 goes faster, there’s a video with this comparison from 247 printing. The setup was also very quick with the V400, think I had maybe 15 to 20 mins before I was ready to print out of the box. Deltas are hard to beat when it comes to speed but the X1 carbon will be more accurate as that is where delta take a slight dip in.

I 100% agree with your final thoughts, it'll take printers like this to push other companies out of the "bottom of the barrel" rut we are in with the Ender clones, as long as it actually sells well. I've already been recommending the X1C to anyone willing to spend up to $1,500 on a printer but don't want to build their own since it has all of the features to "just work" and not need to tinker constantly. The P1P is a Prusa MK3s killer as it will replace my sub $1,000 recommendation as I recommended Prusa for their top-tier customer service. But needing to completely build the printer yourself, even with the amazing instructions included, is a bit much for someone who just wants something that'll work with minimal hassle. I know a lot of people are worried about the open source nature of Bambu Lab but there has to be a little trade-off here. The average customer isn't going to care if it is open source or not, most of what they buy today isn't. If we expect them to make money off their products it'll need to be the closed source stuff they do it with that no one else can just flat out copy.

Andrew, I think you can fake your way through it, switch one color after it is done with the 5th, and use the same color higher in the print. - but the swapped one will be what is printing. It would be an interesting test.
