Played one for 2 hours at a rental studio yesterday. Honestly, I could not really ask for more. The power is massive. The reverb sounds awesome. Using the master and drive was easy to get great tones. One of these used is a no brainer if a Princeton isn't enough for ya... Rockin.

i bought this earlier this month and it's a beast. i've never owned a high end tube amp and i feel as if it'll be a while before i feel really comfortable and use this amp in the way it should be used. what surprised me the most is that it's incredibly reactive to the smallest things that you change with your playing or with your guitar knobs.

I played a Deville for years, I now own a Super Lead Marshall 1959, the Deville sounds better for cleans, the Super lead surprised me at how harsh it sounds, you can dial it in to sound sweeter in the cleans yes, but lots of people say the Deville is bad sounding, its not bad sounding at all, just as good as Marshalls most expensive head, oh i also owned a Bassman, which is really sweet, but the Deville is more shape able in the eq section, all in all i prefer the Deville.

That amp sounds epic. I love that warm, clean and with a little reverb tone of Fender amps. I have a little 1x12 65' Princeton Reverb that makes me smile every time I turn it on.

I added the little black box amp volume knob to my paddleboard going through the loop. I am able to crank the Deville up to whatever I want to get break up. Bring the volume knob down and the tone is still there just at not your shattering levels. Best 45 bucks I have ever spent. Picked up a used 90s version Deville made in the USA for 300 bucks in great condition. It’s an inspiration monster.

I've got a 212 DeVille that I bought new in 2001 - it's one of the last USA-made models. I prefer the 2x12's to the 4x10's for their deeper, fuller tone. This amp has been my #1 for many years and is still running strong today. It's got a fantastic clean tone & is a great pedal platform amp. Only complaint is the unusable Drive/More Drive channels, but I just stick to the clean channel & use pedals for OD & Distortion. Had to laugh when Marty said "It's lighter than a Twin". Very few amps are that heavy. The DeVille is still a heavy amp nonetheless, I suggest some sort of hand truck or road case with casters on it to move the DeVille around. But overall it's a great amp - I will keep it as long as I play guitar and probably will hand it down to my son when he starts learning how to play.

5 years later. You make that amp sing. I bought mine in 1997, only played a few hours on it and it's in covered in house storage. I took the Hot Rod out on my deck one night and plugged in my guitar. I only had it up to 3 on the master volume. I live 1 mile from the fire station in our village. Friends were walking their dog around the block and were a mile away by the fire station. They could hear my guitar via the Hot Rod Deville. Volume 3. I hadn't used the amp because I got almost full time into acoustic guitar playing. Unplugged. I just got me a Lefty Tele. Black. I'm going to take the dust cover off of the hot rod real soon. Thanks for the Hot Rod review, Marty.

Marty, I picked one up in Anaheim this last weekend. It was a hot day for Orange County folks; about 92 degrees. I picked up a very clean Fender Hot Rod DeVille 212 in perfect shape, complete with cover for $380. It was a steal. Then on back home to 116 degrees in the Coachella Valley. I always love the blues deluxe with a 15in speaker. I always wanted to build a point to point hand wired one . Then the VHT series came out with point to point wiring and I started going back to smaller play at home. Amps. I will most likely , make it a Fall project with a single 15in speaker . May even start out with a used BLUES deluxe and just hand wire a new board...into it . from a kit. But your right those amps are plentiful and affordable.

I have a 2002 with The Eminence 12 inch speakers. Other than replacing The New Flat sounding JJ output tubes with 2 Vintage tubes it's been a great amplifier and it seems to do whatever I need. I was originally going to get A Hot Rod 40 Watt amp because I didn't know that they made a 60 Watt DeVille. But I was thinking 40 watts might not be enough for A larger room so I said that to the salesman and He told me about The 60 Watt DeVille Amplifier. I'm used to having 100 Watt tube stacks but I wanted something that was smaller this time. It's not a lightweight by any means at 55lbs but they can be carried and with a handcart it's easy. I got it used for A little bit under 700 from A Store. It was in really good condition. You can get them cheaper but they won't be in really good condition for less. I shopped around awhile for the one I bought and I tried out a lot of other brands before I bought it. I couldn't find a better amplifier for the price and I already knew what I wanted from the start. I guess that I am A Hot Rod DeVille Man.

Just got one that was made in the USA from 1997! Everything you say is true lol. Amazing reverb and L O U D. I also noticed you have the same tube rattle as me lol. A little annoying but a common issue apparently. Probably from all that air/vibrations flying around back there. Its a beast of an amp.

Hello all you good people out there in Comment Land. Knowing that Marty doesn't respond to inquiries in the comment section, does anyone out there know what Marty is playing at the beginning of this video??? Is it part of a song, or perhaps it's his own ditty. I like it! Thanks!!

Wow, I almost feel like I have a little egg on my face. I'm plenty old enough to know and love that song. Just didn't get it the first time through. Big thanks to you Marty/Marty Music for your reply. Very kind. I really appreciate it!

I have a Deville also and I love it. As versatile as it gets. And I have a Heritage also. I knew there was something about the tone that I liked haha

Marty, so happy you did this video. I have one of the old school made in America Hot Rod Deluxe, and I actually use a fulltone ocd pedal, I know you like that as well... Can you recommend some good all around settings for an alternative music style, using this amp and the OCD pedal? I can't get this thing quiet enough to play in my house. I'm a returning musician, but haven't played in 7 years. It's bumming me out, and making me not want to practice. :(

I have PTSD from playing gigs where these were in the backline. Could never coax a useable tone out of them. Way too loud to get to the sweet spot. Break up sounds thin. Now I always bring my Blues Jr, which has a perfect stage volume.

Hi Marty! ‘Been following you for so long!!! I just bought the Tone King gremlin, still discovering it. But it’s great. I was of course looking for an amp to play at home but also with my band when we rehearse. And you, did you try it, what do you think about it? Thank you for your answer and happy new year.
