Hey just want to ask how is the medik8 going? Did it help your skin? Also my mother has gotten the level 3 which is (0.03) and I think she needs and can tolerate a higher level. She obviously has mature skin and needs help with hyperpigmentation and milia would you recommend the level 10 or 20 for her? In terms of strength, like how is the level going for you??

Thanks for watching! If you don't have sensitive skin and you are committed to daily SPF then you should be fine with 0.1% if you avoid any sensitive areas. If you want to play it safe and avoid irritation then start with 0.05% and move up once you're comfortable. Good luck!

Thanks for your information! I have been using Avene 0.05 for over 6mos and really like it. I incorporated many other actives at the same time and was experiencing some redness and sting sensation. Recently added Bukuchiol to my routine and really like it. As I am learning more on how to use these products, seems like there is less redness. I am still working on the hyperpigmentation and would like to hear your recommendation. Also for a night cream, the one you are recommending in this video is sold out. I am looking forward to purchasing that one. Love your video, my first time in your channel
@JuliaPratt
@JuliaPratt 2 күн бұрын
Thanks for watching! I'm happy to hear you're experiencing less redness as you adjust to the actives. For hyperpigmentation, I've had the most success with a retinoid in the evenings and an ascorbic acid (vitamin c) serum in the mornings. It can be a lot to tolerate so I incorporated them slowly. And of course daily SPF otherwise it's all for nothing!

Hi Julia! Currently I’m using Geek&Gorgeous10 3times a week. I still have whiteheads occasionally on my forehead. Do I need to add Differin on the nights I’m not using retinal? Or should I just stick with just retinal? Thankyou, and please pardon my English 😊
@JuliaPratt
@JuliaPratt 10 ай бұрын
Hey Jess! Thanks for watching :) if you’re not exfoliating, I’d add in a 2% salicylic acid product 2-3 x week on the nights you’re not using A-Game 10. This will help with breakouts in the short term whilst the retinal helps in the long term. Make sure you’re wearing sunscreen during the day x hope this helps

@JuliaPratt
@JuliaPratt Ай бұрын
Thanks for watching! Yes, you can continue your retinal use as normal, as long as you ensure vigilant sun protection via SPF application, sunglasses, hat etc. If your skin is feeling tight, dry or red then I'd give it a break along with any other active ingredients you may be using. Have fun!

Hello Julia. I am a little bit confused about the Avene oxitive peeling cream. They say is equal to 3 sessions of glycolic acid, so that means that we have to stop using glycolic acid if we use this avene cream ? It will be too much for the skin? 🤔
@JuliaPratt
@JuliaPratt Жыл бұрын
Maria, I'm confused too haha! It's a very strange comparison for them to make. It's fine to continue your use of glycolic acid when using a retinal. I would recommend you don't use them in the same routine as their pH levels are incompatible and it could also cause some irritation. Personally, I use retinal most nights and an acid like glycolic once a week or so. I just skip retinal on those nights. Hope this helps!

which one would u recommend for blemish prone skin? as I was prescribed with dermatica fomrula with adapalene, benzoyl peroxide+niacinamide but i can't afford £25 a month
@JuliaPratt
@JuliaPratt 10 ай бұрын
For blemish prone skin, I'd recommend Geek & gorgeous A-Game (either 5 or 10 depending on your skin's sensitivity.) You can also add in niacinamide and benzoyl peroxide into your routine and you'll essentially be replicating the ingredients in your prescription. If you have a contact in the US you can also get adapalene over the counter in the product Differin. Just remember to keep the benzoyl peroxide in a different routine to retinal, or use a wash off product with benzoyl. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!

Hey Julia! New viewer of your channel here. I'm interested in using retinal as a replacement for retinol, but my formulator friend tells me that historically, retinal has been difficult at remaining stable even when encapsulated. I assume that's an issue that has been addressed lately.
@JuliaPratt
@JuliaPratt 11 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching! I’m not a formulation but the brand creators and formulators I have spoken to about this say that there have been advances in the stability of this ingredient. From what I understand, no one is formulating with the raw ingredient any longer. Formulators are working with advanced forms of encapsulation and delivery systems sourced from ingredient suppliers. Historically, retinol formulations had more stability which is why we haven’t seen many retinal options until recently!

People have been loving the MaeLove Moonlight Retinal Serum ($37) and I personally am going with Naturium Retinaldehyde Serum ($32). MaeLove is 0.11% I think.
