That was an "Absolutely Fabulous" tour of a top-notch nursery! It was amazing to see the rows of roses that looked like "Brush Strokes" in a painting---this is a place where I could live la "Dolce Vita" (the sweet life), & it was a "Double Delight" to hear you & Peter nattering on about roses as if "Papa"Meilland" was right there with you. Listening to you two was "Pure Poetry" "Scent From Heaven," and I felt as if I were the "One & Only" guest privileged to listen in to talk of "Chandos Beauty" (yessir, that name got me, couldn't do anything with Chandos!). I could imagine smelling the "White Parfum de Provence" on holiday in the south of France or at a gallery in Paris looking at a "Marc Chagall" exhibit, or enjoying a cup of "Koko Loco" (with a drop of creme de cacao!) and smelling the "Glorious Parfuma" of sophisticated ladies buying expensive art. The whole tour made me think "Avec Amour" of the "Delightful Bliss" of the "Parfuma" of my own garden here in the "Pacific Blue." This tour has been "Dee-Lish" & I thank you much for putting up with this whole "comment," the time spent writing of which has allowed me to avoid vacuuming the living room this evening. Excellent tour---do you think you could slash back your roses for the first year or 2 in order to get those big healthy canes? Don't know if I could.

I wanted to be there with you both looking at all those beautiful roses. I'm full of admiration for the people who run their nurseries as they make it look so easy but it definitely isn't! No blackspot is amazing. Almost every rose in my garden has it this year. Koko Loco looked a beautiful rose. Such an unusual colour. Thanks for taking us along with you Jay Jay and thanks to Peter too.

Wow! What a great place, it’s like the trial or testing garden for roses for getting ADR logo here in Germany. Peter‘s nursery has all my favourite roses and some are already in my garden for a long time. Jubilee Papa Meilland is still on my list. My Pacific blue is beautiful this year. I‘m surprised you choose Madame Anisette, now you know how it smells, crazy isn’t it, incredible scent of anis, myrrh and other scents. Line Renaud has amazing scent too! Thanks for sharing this to us Jay, I really love it!🌹

I think that was the rose equivalent of eating a whole variety box of delicious chocolates at one sitting! I enjoyed every minute but I feel I have overindulged. If only we all had fields like that to plant our roses - and the weather conditions there must be fantastic for roses if they are unfed, unwatered and still disease free. You are of course right - the best way to choose a rose is to see and smell it when it is in flower, but that is alas not always possible. And to see different varieties of outstanding roses together so that you can compare them directly is the cherry on the top. You did a great job with the filming and chat - I think you have a future as a television presenter!

A plant list in the video description would be super useful, Jay. The word is floriferous.

It’s pure bliss to watch the video mate. All roses look awesome and super healthy and happy to see Julia Child, Nostalgia , koko loco purchased recently featured in video. It would be interesting to know about rootstock and pruning practices to achieve such strong growth. One more thing, I feel video ends too early.

What a great resource to have so near to where you live. A bit perplexing how perfect everything looks with no irrigation or amendments; must be a matter of the soil providing everything the roses need. Agree with your top two picks but was also impressed with Julia Childs and Jubilee Papa. Thank you for sharing!

Two years ago, in mid season, following an informative and helpful, telephone call, I purchased, a potted "Austin" rose from Peter. The rose when it arrived was an exceptionally magnificent plant, incomparable to previous purchases from other suppliers.I have to tell you, that by summer's end my wonderful rose , growing in a large pot, was three and a half feet, or more tall, of extremely strong canes, with continuos flowers. The plant was so strong...... I began to believe Peter had sold me a Triffid!

Hi Jay!!! Really enjoyed watching your video!!! Nice choice! I have Pacific Blue as standard tree, highly recommend that rose. I wish I could share some pictures with you. From my experience about Pacific Blue - do not keep her under direct sunlight, she definitely doesnt like it, heat as well, doesnt really tolerate heat and sunlight but good with rain. It is a wonderful rose!!! Will be looking into Perfume collection after your videos, you always mention them. Thanks for your videos 🤗

8:22 Hybrid teas are not my thing, but this Meilland rose does have a unique, pleasing velvety appearance on the petals. My thrill is the old cabbage, Victorian form of roses, be they modern or old, no matter to me, just the cabbage form, quartered is even nicer and clouds of perfume. 17:24 Nice color blend, the striations are in sync with one another. 19:33 I also do not care for white roses, only if they are strongly quartered like Madamm Hardy, then the light color emphasizes the sculptural impression of the pronounced quartering. Alas, I was not able to get a Madamme Hardy with it's gorgeous quartering, and it's little green tick in the center, and it's high petal count, soI contented myself with a white perpetual moss rose, since I had no whites at all. 21:08 Yes, a superior shade of yellow, like june butter from a Jersey cow, soft, pastel radiant yellow. 21:20 Low petal count, alas! I prefer roses stuffed to the gills with petals, the cent feuille form. 22:51 Nicely quartered, I love Kordes roses, they go for the old Victorian form, the "fairytale" form, I have several David Austin roses, I love them, they are 90% of the way to old Victorian form, but Kordes goes all the way, pure nostalgic form, and if they nod, so much the better. 24:31 Bliss Parfuma, absolutely wondrous, like it has a golden light illuminating the center, very nice form also, although I see no quartering. Well, thank you for sharing this. i appreciate the honest, non commercial discussion, including his comments regarding powdery mildew. Oh my! Except that mine is white, my what we call coon dog here in the USA looks identical to mine. Exactly one year ago, I walked round back of my workshop and there laid a quite literally skin and bones , covered in flies, coon dog. I dropped my tools, went got her food, but she was so shy for about 3 days. Now she is happy, healthy, never on a chain or in a cage, I go for walks with our 10 years of age bulldog, that is the coon dog's "green light" to go hunting for several hours. She has annihilated all of the groundhogs, raacoons etc. that were wrecking my garden. So, anyhow, until later, Godspeed to you! Ralph in Ohio

Jay Jay, Thank you for your videos but especially this one! You’ve located Glorious Parfuma aka Madame Anisette for me right here in England! That’s has really made my day, thank you! I’ve been looking for this rose and had no idea Eastcroft Roses had her! Eastcroft needs to update their online catalogue or they will miss out on customers! Unfortunately, Eastcroft isn’t local to me. I’ve bought one rose (so far!) from them, Scent from Heaven earlier in spring, and I was so impressed by the specimen I received, very healthy. Did you, by any chance, see/ sniff test Rhapsody in Blue during your visits to Eastcroft?
