This is even more badass when you realize Issac is just some random Engineer with no combat experience. Just balls of steel.

It's insane how well they managed to string things like this together with no loading screens two generations ago.

This dude has the luck of Master Chief when it comes to surviving perilous situations.

Imagine you’re the pilot of that gunship. You find your target, Isaac, being restrained at the top of the church of unitology. You start shooting, killing everyone but him, and he escapes through a secret vent. You go down to where it should lead, and find him being chased by a giant necromorph, when he proceeds to jump onto your ship, kill you and the necromorph at the same time, and jump back through another window unscathed.

This is one of the reasons I loved Dead Space 2, it never stoped harassing you, when you thought you were safe it takes that sense of safeness and crushes it, so you feel the dread all the way through.

The in-space parts are really well done, with the zero gravity, the lack of sound and the monsters coming out at you from all directions. Crazy.

Seriously one of the most badass scenes in video gaming.

I didn't think about this at first but every faction of bad guy is comin' down on Isaac in this scene. The Unitologists get a hold of him, ready to put him on ice only to be rescued(?) by EarthGov trying to turn him into Swiss cheese. Which he escapes by diving into a hole and right into the lap of one of the scariest necromorphs ever and they both buy a ticket to the gunship which Isaac blows up despite the Tormentor tryin' REAL HARD to kill him and ends up flying through a window that's meant to stand up to space. And if you trip at the finish line, you get the box art from Dead Space 1, what a treat.

I love the sound design in space during these scenes. you can hear these dampened sounds of metal clashing. which is somewhat realistic, because your suit can transfer vibrations which you can hear as sound. dead space 2 was really the pinnacle of the dead space series. some might disagree, but imo it just generally beats dead space 1 in every aspect. if you disagree, that's fine. Dead Space 1 is also a great game and I enjoyed it nearly as much as 2, but dead space 2 just is such an improvement to me in gameplay that it beats the first one.

Same, loved this scene. When I first got there and experienced it for the first time it felt like pure epicness.

Impossible things that happened in this scene : 1 - Isaac is alive 2 - Isaac didn't have a limb ripped out 3 - Isaac didn't break a single bone 4 - Isaac didn't lose a single part of his HP, it doesn't matter if this is just a cutscene

Literally a masterful blend of QTE and normal gameplay and cutscenes.

The fact that Issac didn't lose any HP during this entire scene is god tier amazing!

This and rocket chair scene is memorable for me, from gameplay to cutscene to gameplay again continuously without cut or loading.

Even today, Dead Space 2 is an epic wild ride in the depth of horror and madness. I hope Dead Space remake will be great and successful so that we can get a remake of Dead Space 2.

The sound design at 3:10 onwards is amazing even all these years later. Love how the sound gradually dampens as the oxygen is leaving the cargo hold.

This goes to show how Isaac is a misplaced individual. If it wasn't for circumstance he could've ended up in a combat role like john carver. He clearly has fighting spirit, wit, and survival instinctints. He is a fighter.

When the tormentor appeared, I said out loud “Oh you gotta be kidding me!”. This game is awesome.

I like to think the suit Isaac wears made for be able to withstand small debris's from space, while working outside of a space ship. Thats why Isaac did not take any serious damage here, and he is not dead like everyone else.

I still remember playing this part for the first time and seeing the creature barreling down the hallway after you thought you just defeated it. It’s just my opinion but I believe that this is the single most exciting survival horror game ever made.

I’ve realized years later, it make sense you can hear your weapon and clanging in the suit, it’s bumping and reverberating against your armor. Hence the noise.. can’t explain necro screams in space but that’s my headcannon.
