Also, I'd love to hear about any minimal footwear brands I may have missed. Please share!

I bought the Primus Lite III's by Vivobarefoot a few months ago. It's become my main shoe, took some getting used to but they are comfortable and definitely give my feet more room.

How are Lunas different from just a cheap sandal? Like the flat, hard sandals you can buy at target or Walmart for $10.

@@amyburbidge2740 Don't know about Lunas but I run in Shammas which are similar. You can adjust them to your foot however you need them (uphill/downhill, wet/dry), they securely stay on your feet, no flip-flopping, everything is very durable and well made to last for a long time, when running technical trails you can safely run in them no matter if it's wet and muddy. I didn't understand the prize until I got a pair and started to use them. They perform well in all conditions. Besides running in them (predominantly trail) I also wear them for mountaineering and via ferratas.

Great question! Those cheap sandals are similar in that that are flat, but there are a few differences: 1) They are squishy, 2) They wear down very quickly, 3) There's no heal strap. Lunas are much closer to mimicking barefoot walking, and are very durable - lasting years without changing shape. These differences may not seem significant, but even small differences have a large impact over thousands of steps taken. Hope that helps!

Thank you for sharing Bug Bean! I have not used Shammas, but they sound great and I appreciate the answer for Amy. No flip flopping and no slipping! Much better for outdoor activities and healthier for the feet/body

Hello, Sir. I wish I could find a doc like you in my area. I'm 266 pound male with fibro. I haven't found a pair of shoes that doesn't hurt for over 10 years. I went to a podiatrist who just asked me 'well what do you want me to do?' I've done a few tests that say I should get 'supporting' shoes. Since padded shoes don't help I've thought about going more bare. Could this work well for me? What shoes would you start with?

As a woman, if I wear flat sandals or flip flops sometimes...are these as effective as the specialised shoes you talk about?...otherwise mainly I'm wearing 'asics' high arch trainers with support....so....because of my wearing the flat sandals sporadically, would my transition be less?

I really appreciate your advice, thank you!! I have scoliosis, herniated discs etc and so I was looking for Brooks since this was recommended to me. However, the amount of diff styles of Brooks is overwhelming. It seems from reviews that Glycerin is good but there are so many numbers on the glycerins (20. 21, stealth etc.) I fast walk daily, 45 minutes on flat areas. I would truly appreciate your advice on which Brooks you recommend? I could not tell from the sneaker you showed us which style it is. Thank you!

I've been wearing Altras for many years. Recently I started to think that the zero drop is what is causing my all-over foot pain. When I walk (for exercise) or hike, my feet are in a lot of pain the whole time. Also my tibialis anterior cramps up so I can hardly walk. It sounds like I shouldn't be blaming my shoes! What else could it be? I was about to go buy new shoes today!

Great and informative video. What is the model of the Altra shoes you showed? I wear Escalante and pretty happy with them.

Your wife must love your videos. 😂 I used to wear similar shoes. Because women are first about STYLE and aesthetics… unfortunately. In my 40’s now, I switched to Sperry Topsider boat shoes and their slip-on leather sneakers. Boat shoes are still stylish yet divinely light, roomy enough and not overly supportive. My go-to work shoes. The sneakers are a bit too narrow for my liking though they do look great in jeans! Whenever I window shop Merrell, I go, “Ugh, ugly.” 😬

I wore nothing but Altras for years. Last fall I tweaked my lower back and have been experiencing a lot of lower back pain since. MRI showed DDD and Spondylothesis. I had to switch to a shoe with a bit of a heel. Should I try to work my way back to you more of a zero shoe?

What if the throbbing lower back and hip and butt bone pain is from stage 4 Adenomyosis- deep infiltration into my uterus? So no shoe will make it better. I just need relief. My sister has a shoe where my weight is more in my heels but it’s so “platformed”- too tall. Anyway- help me please :) oh I need a low impact/walking/or hiking yard shoe

Hi. Nice Vid. I find it hard to find shoes these days. They make them all far to soft. What is the name of the Brooks shoe?
@CoreBalance
@CoreBalance Жыл бұрын
Dave the Brooks shoe is actually the softest of the ones I showed, but the model is the Dyad 11. I recommend one of the more “barefoot” shoots if you like a firm sole

What do you think about Hoka wide toes as an in between
@sherridennis7529

So confused as to “barefoot” goal. I’m assuming my leg length difference is being leveled from all the core & balancing work I’m doing. My PT told me never to walk barefoot & to only wear Hoka’s. I do have orthotic insoles (the expensive ones) & shims the Chiro put in to level my foot. I hate the Hokas because they’re so ugly, but must admit they helped immensely prior to your program. I’m considering your progressive suggestions to get to barefoot. Unfortunately I don’t get to be barefoot much because of the weather so I’ll have to achieve this through the “barefoot” progression. My question is, will my back hurt if & when I must wear a non-barefoot shoe (weddings etc)?
