Freshman 6’2 180 lbs
Oklahoma PG Trae Young was the Baker Mayfield of the Oklahoma basketball team. The highly touted freshman from Norman, Oklahoma represented his home team well in his one year and is now expected to be a lottery pick.
Young lead the nation in scoring with 27.4 points a game while dishing out 8.7 assists. He finished the season with 118 three pointers. Young and Alabama PG Collin Sexton are expected to be the top point guards in the 2018 NBA Draft.

While Baker Mayfield was doing his thing on the football field, Trae Young was doing the same on the basketball court for Oklahoma. He lead the country in scoring with 27.4 points a game while dishing out 8.7 assists. He drained 118 threes as well. Young is expected to be drafted in the lottery. Trae Young just Like Marvin Bagley III should stay until his Junior Year because he has some work to do especially when it pertains to his Ball-Handling Skills i.e. Crossovers, Dribble Penetration, Hesitation Dribbles, Behind The Back Dribbles, Eurostep Layups, Reverse Layups, Dropstep Layups, Backdoor Cuts, etc.

Doncic, Ayton and Bagley are some great players but it’s kinda hard to not consider taking him over those guys considering how the game is played today. I think i might do it if I’m Phoenix. They already got Bender, Jackson and Booker. All big men, taking another would be pointless, draft a PG than can dominate the rock, drive, create, dribble and shoot the J from deep. They just might be competitive again

ASAP BAS but are Ayton and Doncic going to carry a franchise? Ayton is a center or 4, of course he’ll be a great player but he’s not the one that will be carrying the load on a nightly bases. Doncic is a solid player but doesn’t have the natural talent to be “The Guy”. He’s just polished since he’s had the advantage of playing pro style ball since he was 16. Young will surpass him in less than 3 yrs. Phoenix really needs someone to be “The Guy” to ever get out of their slump. I’m taking young, sometimes taking the team building approach is better than simply taking the better player. They already have a superstar in Booker and just drafted Jackson who will be a good player 2 way player once he settles into a scheme n role. They need someone to create offense, distribute, get to the rack, shoot from the 3, shoot off the dribble and make other guys better. 🤷🏽‍♂️🤷🏽‍♂️🤷🏽‍♂️

Robb James I never said that young wouldn’t be a good fit with Phoenix but if they want him they would have to trade down because if they don’t take doncic or ayton 1or 2 the city is going to go wild. And Phoenix isn’t at the team building stage yet they should just worry about taking the best player and that’s probably ayton or doncic. Because if they were at that “team building” stage they wouldn’t be the #1 pick right now. They need as much talent as possible and that’s not young. Not to mention if you’re saying young is going to carry the load watch that March madness game and he shot them out of the game. Ayton didn’t play that good either but doncic just won the Euroleague championship, in the second best league in the world harder to play in than college basketball. The best player to take imo is doncic.

ASAP BAS fair points but i strongly disagree. I think Young is the best player with the most potential, I’m taking him number 1 and never lookin back. He had some shooting deficiencies and some questionable decisions down the stretch of the season due to poor diet, a small frame and lack of conditioning/experience, also while playing for a bad team that wasn’t coached well. Things that will be improved upon naturally but i see him surpassing Doncic in 2-3yrs. Doncic is very polished but he is just not that talented or athletic. I just can’t see him becoming the leader of a franchise, i see him settling into a role position on a team. Never will be the guy tho.

Robb James well if you’re looking at potential 2-3 years down porter is probably the best pick because he’s definitely the best player in the draft if he’s healthy and there is nothing suggesting that he isn’t going to be. But I still wouldn’t take him at 1, I’d trade down and try to get him. And I don’t think young will be better than doncic because doncic is already proven as a star in a league harder than college basketball and when people talk about his athleticism I think they’re severely downplaying it. Not to mention that doncic has a basketball IQ that is comparable to Lebron/Ben Simmons. The level of competition that doncic has had to compete against is head and shoulder above what Young had to face

Trae Young's Shooting troubles me because it seems like his SHOT DECISIONS aren't always the wiser ones. ➡His shooting has to improve because in the NBA defenders will be up on him and whatnot. Trae Young's PULLUP JUMPER and STEPBACK is INCONSISTENT at best.
