50 minutes from Kona Airport
30 Minutes for downtown Kona
It is definitely worth visiting when you are in Hawaii.
Tips:
* Wouldn't recommend for absolute beginners. (See my recommendation for you below.)
* Bring your own snorkeling gears.
* There are porta potty style bathrooms available
* Parking available
* No changing room however you can change by parking area if you need to
Other places worth trying on the Big Island
* Kahaluu Beach Park - Another great place to snorkel. Great for beginners, kids, and family. This place have restrooms, changing room, and bus makes stop here right by the beach.
*69 Beach - unique in my opinion. There are big trees right on the water. The roots of the trees makes unique private spaces for everyone. great place for picnic, sun bathing, relaxing and reading books.
* Shaka Tacos - on your way to two step. Great food and nice sunset view from their lanai.
*Hawaii Island Retreat- Unique stay in a huge land. Very spiritual, peaceful, and full of nature. Beautiful infinity pool.
Waipio Valley - Cannot recommend enough. Has everything: beach, forest, river, tallest Hawaii waterfall i believe, mountains, valley, wild horses. This was where the past kings would come to vacation at. ****You need the right kind of cars to go down the mountain.*** If not it's a hard hike down and up.
* Akaka Falls - Beautiful waterfall. One of the best on the Big Island.
* Volcano National Park - A lot to see. Definitely do your research before going.
*Tuk Tuk Food Truck right by Volcano has delicious food . Don't miss it if you are in the area. My favorite is the Pineapple Chicken Curry.
