I've got that spiraliser, though probably an older model with the blades part of a larger plate you slide in. Still, I absolutely love it. Used many times on raw sweet potatoes with no issue. I use the flat blade and prevent the sliced potatoe from separating as it comes out. I can then cut along the center and get thin slices. I agree, the edges are a bit on the sharp side, but overal, very well made and an heirloom gadget. I did a lot of research before buying and this one looked the best, hands down. Those long noodles could be knitted into a very novel dish. I'd also love to see someone slurp one up like spagetti.

I appreciate this review. But as you mentioned early in the video about being more pragmatic, at 70 yrs old I will do as you and remain using the mandolin. If I had a family to prepare meals, it would be a good investment. Please continue with your reviews; you are a wealth of information and knowledge.

Good job John. Amazon reviews center on rusting and problem with the screw which holds the blade. A lock washer might solve the latter but rusting would be problematic.

Thanks for this review! Looks like it would be a great product! I'm high fruit and high raw Vegan and do the best I can. I know you said we can eat raw sweet potatoes and for those who do want to eat them raw, go for it! BUT I like to steam or roast my potatoes. I just can't 😂.

Too low cholesterol is also dangerous. Very low cholesterol is connected with cancer. Cholesterol is a necessary ingredient for hormone production. Without enough hormones, you're seriously ill/dead. Also, your body makes far more cholesterol than you could get from animal foods if you ate them.

@@robinlillian9471 Eating saturated fats stimulates cholesterol production in the human body. Regardless of the source. Many of us have too much cholesterol. It’s very rare to have dangerously low cholesterol, but for those people, true. Even eating coconut meat (not an animal product) causes some of us to produce too much cholesterol, as an example.

I just received my spiralizer (your recommendation convinced me) and the "auto-forward motion" isn't working so great. Did a get a bad spiralizer? Is there a quick fix? I'm really disappointed! I was so looking forward to all kinds of great spiralized recipes.... 😞 UPDATE: I wet the feet and put it on my glass top oven for better suction but it still comes off on occasion with hard vegetables. It makes a great raw beet, carrot, daikon salad but the aluminum handle (not stainless steel!!!!) was bending from pushing to get it to work, thus the handle would hit the back of the spiralizer while rotating when getting close.... I put in a couple of washers and straightened the handle and it was better. So, I ordered another 10 blade spiralizer to test and sent this one back. End result? The stainless steel with the micro ribbons (better than the 2mm blade on the plastic one) plus the metal spikes held the beet and kept it in rotation. The plastic one was inferior with beets as the spikes didn't dig into the roots! Now I wish I didn't sent the metal one back!
