Thats cool man. I started doing some work here and there here and there last year just to test it out. Mostly weekends to be honest. This year i will try to double what i did last year as my next goal. With the money i made last year i saved some and i bought a second scan tool. Lets see what this year brings. Good luck to you.

How do you know what to charge for your mobile mechanic business? In my mind the convience of a mobile mechanic almost makes it seem that mobile guys should be at least charging what the shops do-but im not sure. Im in the denver area and the shops are backed up over a month. Theyre charging 175-$300 labor rate. I guess im scared of selling myself short and ending up with customers that only came around bc im cheap. How did you figure out what your pricing should be?

Sure, gas savers are best, I’ve actually moved up to a ford transit connect van recently, highly recommend. Great on gas and cheap on insurance. Low to no overhead is how you want to start. Check out my van tour video when you get a chance.

Thanks man, looking for a career at 33, and fixing cars is something I'm really passionate about. Should I get some school or an ASE Cert or just get to it?

Hey brother, great question, schooling to get ASE certified is definitely important. However can be very expensive. I recommend starting at a dealership and working your way up to shop Forman. Dealerships will start you with little experience, and also pay for your schooling and training as well. Once you’re certified you can take those certificates anywhere, even start your own business. This worked out great for me.

Does your scan tool cover heavy equipment as well as regular cars? I want to get one that does both. Thank you

I use Autel, honestly I’ve used snap-on also. But got tired of having it fixed all the time. My Autel works great and has never failed me.
