Sharing my experience with installing the matte tempered glass screen protector from Spigen, the Glas.tR EZ FIT, on my Tesla Model Y. Affiliate link amzn.to/39CeJeH
I installed the matte screen protector to reduce fingerprints and glare on the Tesla touchscreen. I am pretty bad at installing these sorts of things without having alignment issues, dust, or bubbles show up, but Spigen, with their EZ Fit template makes the alignment really easy. I managed to get it right on the first try. I thought I had a bubble at first, but it was a smudge I just wiped clear with my finger.
I haven't noticed any issues with responsiveness. There is a slight (very slight) rainbow effect I noticed when wearing polarized sunglasses similar to what you see with certain window tint. The matte helps with glare considerably and I don't find that it reduces the sharpness of the touchscreen picture.
I was debating between Spigen and Abstract Ocean because they both have the templated alignment systems, but I decided to go with Spigen since I've been happy with their cases for my phones and the template looked easier on the Spigen. People also seem pretty happy with Abstract Ocean if you go that way as well.

Helpful video. I had gotten one and was looking for someone who went through the process. You do need to use the squeegee to push out the air gaps. Not sure if such products are really useful but I figured it wouldn’t hurt.

I still love it. No yellowing or signs of wear. It does a great job cutting down on glare and fingerprints. Let me know if you have another questions or concerns I can answer.

Are there any issues when wearing polarized sunglasses? Miss coloration or too dark
@reallyMello
@reallyMello 2 жыл бұрын
Definitely not too dark for me though I do keep my brightness higher. When wearing polarized sunglasses there can be a slight purple banding on white backgrounds at certain angles, but I find it’s something my brain corrects.

Absolutely amazing for the price. I got one sitting in the box behind me ready for install, picking up my brand new TMY on wednesday next week. The protector will be installed before we even drive away from Tesla pickup location :) Thanks for the review!@@reallyMello

@@mhvdm usually it arrives with factory protective film still on unless your pickup location takes it off so you could wait to get home too if you prefer

Man, it drives me crazy. Where is QC in Tesla? They are laughing at their customers. I don't have respect for them, especially for Elon.

Yah when I mention the quality is poor I’m normally attacked. Tesla was the first. Props for that. But the best is up for grabs.

Tesla isn’t very high quality. So many buy them thinking they just bought the best available. Then find out the truth.

American cars in general are not exactly known for great quality, assembly accuracy or attention to detail. Teslas - while some of them are quite pricey, the majority of that money goes into the tech and infrastructure around it. Most of that stuff is fairly bleeding edge as far as as automotive tech goes, and both the costs and temperament reflect that. If you wanted premium quality assembly, detail work etc - you'd really need to add another 25%+ on the sticker price. And probably manufacture them in Germany / UK (western Europe), Japan, SK etc. Because that stuff is by far the most labor intensive, predominantly hands-on manual work, *_and_* the _least_ revenue generating work. In short, assembly and detail _quality_ work (including QC) is among the most costly work to put in, with the least ROI. This is why, with almost any product, to hit a low(er) price, the first corners cut isn't _material_ quality or performant parts, but QC and detail work. Because they add the most cost for the least ROI.

Best is subjective. Is it best in build quality? No. Is it best in technology and premium features? Yes. Acceleration? Yes. Luxury? No.
