It has been raining for 2 weeks now and the chicken coop or chicken run is starting to show it! So we decided to experiment and put gravel or rocks in the chicken coop run and this may be the best thing we have done here on the farm!

We are working on the large chicken coop run today because we are wanting to try and stop the chicken yard for getting too muddy and try and keep the chicken run as clean as possible. So we decided to try something and that is to put gravel as a bedding in the chicken coop and this will hopefully let the rain water to drain down in the rocks and not cause any mud in the chicken pen, because our chickens are living in luxury in this chicken mansion here on the homestead.

For those wondering about the pea gravel: This is only a small shady area around our chicken coop. Our chickens free range our entire 7 1/2 acres and they have lots of places to scratch around, eat bugs, dust bathe & get to be a chicken. 👍👍👍

Cog Hill Family Farm I know you all love ALL your animals very much and take EXCELLENT care of them. And even though, you shouldn’t need to explain yourselves to anyone about the way you care for your animals, I understand why you do it. Shoot, if I were an animal, I would either want to live at Cog Hill Farms or Lumnah Acres. Lol SERIOUSLY!!! God loves you. God bless. ❤️

Im gonna get girls back next year after this madness settles down. My previous girls (6 at a time) had 1/3 acre to scratch n scrape all to them selves and always produced happy sunny golden rich eggs

Can you give an update on the pea gravel? How has it held up, was there any issues with the heat during the summer and did it keep the mud out? Thank you for all of your videos, I love watching and implementing some of your ideas.

I don't think l could keep up with one!! 😊 Looks like a lot of work to me, worth every minute though to live with the animals and have a big garden for growing in. I don't know hows there's enough hours in the day to do everything that gets done at Cog Hill Farm. Wonderful place to bring children up, so much for them to learn about life and what's involved in growing our food. Such a lovely family!!!😊✨

You apply the rule of if you ... love a being you set them free....... and it work. They stay because they are happy with you and they choose your place . You show the world it is possible to have all those animals getting along and being take care with love and freedom that is what we all aspire , animals too. This is why l love your family, there is so much real love so unselfish it is also respect for nature.
