7 жыл бұрынTravelling to Basel in Switzerland by car is a great way to experience the country side. You want to discover the best things to do and eat in Basel Switzerland? In this video we show you some of the best things to do and eat in Basel Switzerland. You can't come to Switzerland without trying some Swiss chocolate or Swiss Cheese. The swiss are famous for their cheese and chocolate after all.
We spent some time exploring the Basel old town which is surrounded by windy roads and beautiful Swiss architecture. We visited one of the best churches that I've ever visited, the Basler Münster (Basel Minster). We also took a Basel Rhine boat trip. The boat is entirely powered by the mighty Rhine and offers amazing views of both banks. We also visited the main square in Basel called Marktplatz. On some days the Marktplatz has a food market. This is where we got some amazing Swiss Cheese. There is also an amazing chocolate shop called Laderach. We ended our trip with a visit to the iconic red building of the Town Hall or Rathaus.

Basel is actually the smallest city in switzerland you can research it :) I also live here and jup thats just how it is.

@@notyourbusiness7148 Doubt it, by which criteria do you believe this is true? It is the second biggest by population, right after Zurich, and I can assure you there are other cities in CH. ;)

Basel is the 3rd largest city in Switzerland, but at about 180,000 in the city itself, is quite small by world city comparisons, where cities of a few to several million exist. A capital city like Madrid is 20x bigger than Basel, and when you get to cities like London, New York,, Buenos Aires, Mexico City and Tokyo, they are 50x or more bigger.

I do think Basel is a very nice city, as are Geneva and Zurich. I, however, do not think the Rhine is "very beautiful" with its brownish-green hue and a major commercial port. The waters around Geneva and Zurich are much nicer. I do think the convergence of French and German cultures, and all the arts, make this a unique Swiss city. Would prefer much of its wealth not come from pharmaceuticals and chemicals, but it appears to have a lot of innovation in other areas. Basel also gave us Roger Federer, one of the classiest athletes anywhere in the world!

Yes it's the Tinguely fountain. When the old Basler Theater was replaced by the modern concrete building, Jean Tinguely used elements from the old building for the fountain.

people from basel are not like other swiss germans, because 300k ppl live in a small place together, rich ppl, not so rich, swiss, ppl from the whole world, they are not seperated, thats why ppl from basel are more liberal and open 2 guests and tourists, but they also not very outgoing or loud, if you touring through switzerland, every community is different, but in basel everybody is welcome and you will find contact with locals everywhere, no matter where you come from, or how you look or what clothes you wear...but you always have to reckon with a charming, loving joke about you, or your country :)
