Best Time To Be Musky Fishing

Today we have a few hours this evening to chase some big muskies around in northern Wisconsin. Musky fishing is obviously a low numbers game. Patterns are made from many unknown variables and very few encounters. Whenever locational variables can be eliminated it makes the game much easier. Later summer and into early fall is absolutely one of my favorites times of year to be musky fishing. In this video we catch a few muskies and talk about what makes this time of year so good to be a must fisherman.

Dude this is amazing. She handled the hook set and fight SO well, albeit not “perfect”, but she did great and communicated well. You also did great by keeping her calm and not overreacting to a minor mistake or two. She obviously loves this as much as you do, Tom. Great job.

I love seeing anglers with few muskies catch one on a figure 8, and a dandy, too cool. Conditions were right here last week and we wailed on em, like you I only fish them occasionally now cuz musky fishing sucks but musky catching is the best. A few 40’s will get a guys blood pumping!

Would love to take you out to some of our amazing Eastern and Central Wyoming lakes. We have some monster trout too. I fish a higher elevation lake that only has rainbows and walleye in it living in harmony, and they get huge. Maybe consider some sort of a "road show"? Hopefully we'll have our Alumacraft by then and can retire our old restored StarCraft.

Tom quick question, what kind of net do you use? I use to have a nice Beckman which met a very unfortunate and untimely demise. Also, do you have a recommendation for bolt cutters in case you need them? I’ve been referred to knipex but wondering what your thoughts are.

Ok Tom, What triggered your thought process to go after muskies at the last minute??????? It is very rare to stumble into a bite window to produce two nice fish. You were not prepared obviously if Shelby brought down the musky gear last minute.????????? What did you notice????

It's actually pretty common. I used to musky fish every day.....when u do that u are ready for the window. When u decide to randomly go musky fishing for 3 hours you don't expect to hit the window

yelling orders in triplicate, “lift it up lift up lift it up”, “ move, move move!”. I mean if I was in the boat I would not enjoy this. Add in the “gangsta” music…I guess I’m an old fashioned guy, but I can’t find a joy in this style of fishing. I miss the older fashioned channels.
