If you open an encyclopedia, you'll learn that there are different seasons in Jamaica and all your travel guides would suggest that the best time to visit Jamaica is WINTER. However, is it really true? This video will show not only what the best time to visit Jamaica is, but also why it is so.
We'll talk about dry season and rainy season and if there is really a difference between them. What about hurricanes in Jamaica? How often do they happen and what are the ways to avoid them. I will also share tips on where it's better to stay in Jamaica to avoid rain and when you should come to avoid crowds. Please watch this video if you wish to find the answer to the common questions "when is the best time to travel to Jamaica?".

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
====
My name is Irina Bruce. I'm originally from Ukraine, but I've been living in Jamaica since 2014.
I chose Jamaica because it is one of the best countries in the world, and yes, I had travelled the world for many years before I chose Jamaica as the place to relocate.
This channel is to share my experience of living in Jamaica as a foreigner and, hopefully, my tips will help other travellers who are planning their vacation in Jamaica.

Your channel is underrated! You need more subscribers!!! This is top-notch marketing for Jamaica. I see so many Jamaican KZfaqrs with many subscribers and views and their contents are mundane, banal and lack creativity. I guess you have to start from scratch. I subscribed to your channel by just watching one video. Keep up the good work.

She is rising and will grow rapidly. True what you said about the other Jamaican vloggers. I see that most of them are young and self centered. Irina is quite the opposite. she is sharing knowledge and information about the island. So far, the other two KZfaqrs I see, who are on par with her are Kareem LaTouche from "Kareem's Quest" and Jamieson Daley. Only that Jamieson 's videos are more on the artistic and cinematic spectrum, but highlights the Jamaican experience non the less. I was telling her about that before. She is going to blow up rapidly. You just watch.

I've been to Jamaica in June, July, November, December - pretty much every month of the year. Never had bad weather - sure it rained (more like showered) but it was over in about 20 minutes and that just made it more lush and beautiful. Hopefully, I'll be back in back in November for my 65th birthday.

@@levochance01 Hi Levent, you might want to check the weather before you depart. But like I said, I've been to Jamaica all times of the year and it usually showers for about 20 minutes to half an hour and then it's just sunny and beautiful again. I've sat in the ocean with the rain pouring down on me and just enjoyed Mother Nature's liquid sunshine. The water is so warm that you don't feel unsafe or anything. Jamaica is beautiful, the people are warm and welcoming. Make sure you drink a few Red Stripes, have some jerk chicken for dinner and ackee and salt fish for breakfast. Buy only real Jamaican gifts (buy your rum at the airport - otherwise you will have to check it into your luggage) and just enjoy the Caribbean sunshine. Like they say in Kingston, "take care and walk good."

Another Great video👍 The biggest mistake about *Jamaica* are that it's tiny and hot. However as you so eloquently clarify it is a very large island and the mountain temp are generally 10 degrees cooler than at sea level. The *Blue Mountain Peak* is the coldest place in the *English Speaking Caribbean* with temps going as low as freezing points on occasions between November to March. A few years ago our temperature gauge hit 37 degrees, which is 3 degrees celcius. Places like *Manchester* and *Northern Clarendon* usually gets chilly during the winter too... The south coast is more arid with a desert like heat to it, in places like *Vere* and *Treasure beach* *Jamaica* weather- wise is very diverse.....👍🇯🇲👍

Nice video with good advices 👍🏻Our decision to visit this country at the end of January was based on some ridiculous reasons namely my boyfriend’s birthday, my birthday and of course.... the Bob Marley’s Birthday. We should really think it over one more time 😊

We just returned from jamaica- we saw the school children walking home with umbrellas to keep hot sun off their heads- the uniforms that the girls wore were such long dresses- looked heavy & hot to be out in sun with. As far as rain, we left negril & somewhere just before lucea, it was a downpour for 7 minutes- no good drainage- luckily it came & was gone fast! By the time we were getting back into montego bay- sun shining brightly !

'If it's 34 degrees in Ontario (in the summer), it must be 45 degrees in the shade in Jamaica, with humidity, probably hurricane season, that's why nobody goes to Jamaica in the summer.' Obviously, right? That's fantastic advice, and it's reality. There's the first 2 weeks of January 'dip' (typically) in prices, and it's a fine time to come of course, but August was incredible too. I wish I had this video decades ago. We only get a theme, hurricanes, rain, season/off or on and barely think before we make decisions on 'such obvious' conclusions. One comparison: England. I knew England was sunny, but I was the exception. July and January, sunny, almost all the time. 14 degrees in York in January, had to take my coat off. Palm trees (a type anyway) in the south, in Hampshire, usually 8-12 degrees, some drizzle blows over. The sun and rain maps confirm it, most of England gets less rain than anywhere I've lived my life in Ontario, but nobody will listen. It's just inconceivable, "Everybody just knows England's rainy, crowded and poorer than Canada." Wrong, but... I make Pinterest boards to prove my point now, rather than arguing. In fact, Jamaica was my first taste(s) of England, as a Canadian. It's like that with Jamaica, the boards speak volumes about the weather and more. In Portland, maybe 10 minutes of light rain the one morning around 5am, then done, then another day in the Garden of Eden. England, 2 trips, maybe 2 hours rain one afternoon in Kent that July, all hot and sunny otherwise. Ireland, Scotland, Wales... those get rain and get lumped in with 'Britain' so it becomes an assumption here for those that don't go or only 'do' a few days in London then spend a week up in Scotland and go back to Canada and say they didn't care for it. You make a great point about the approach to Jamaica, it's where will you be staying, visiting? What will you be doing and who will you be with? It's not so much where you are but who you're with and 'everywhere I go, there I am' (Zen kinda stuff). I never even thought though, wow, yeah, Jamaica in August... is not really any hotter, up at 3,000 feet or sea level... than other times of the year. This is incredible untapped potential for visitors and those that will want to live there.
