Summary: Lithops: -Watering: soak when soil is dry during spring. Only water in summer if they're really shriveled, if this happens do not soak, only water a 1/2" deep. Resume typical watering in late summer until early fall. In winter do not water. -Sunlight: east or south facing window preferred for sunlight. If leaves get too tall or lose color, place the lithops in a sunnier spot. -Drainage hole, tall pot. -well drained, gritty soil.

I recently bought one lithops to go with my cacti planter, and named him Gregory. He’s so cute. He was labeled a “living stone” and I was intrigued, because I had never seen one before. I’ve been doing as much research as I can to keep him healthy and this video was very informative! Thank you! I’ll probably buy Gregory some siblings soon!

I've never had a plant before, but decided to get this one out shopping today. He came in a small turtle looking pot, but basing off this video I think i might need a bigger one. When I looked at him closer I didn't see much of the roots, but he had this blue/green ring around him that kinda looks like a small mesh bucket he was put in but not sure what it is. Any help would be great, I don't know much about them!

Thanks for your video. I find it very useful especially for me being first time growing this kind of succulent. I bought a few from a local store and I am planning to repot them. Should I clean out the soil like you did on this video and replant them accordingly? It is beginning of summer here, should I water the soil or leave it dry?
@SucculentsBox
@SucculentsBox 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Jenifer, so nice of you. Before repotting, gently remove Lithops from the pot clean the dirt surrounding the roots. Keep in mind that you can only repot when the growth season begins (usually around the month of May). Before re-potting, the roots of Lithops must have developed enough (at least two years). Water your Lithops once every two weeks (at most) beginning in late summer, when it is actively growing.

Yes, this is a natural growth stage. If they feel mushy and soft to the touch, the outer leaves are most likely shredding. Your Lithop may grow new leaves without blooming in some instances. @SucculentsBox
@SucculentsBox 3 жыл бұрын
To walk you through on this one, water your Lithops once every 2 weeks (at most) beginning at the end of summer, where this plant is actively growing. But once the winter season hits, it's best to leave it be and not water at all, as this is when its old leaves will start to die and new ones will begin to grow inside, and watering it during this time of the year could have a negative effect on its growth. This normally happens after their dormant season, which is around spring to early fall. Once the days get shorter and the temperature get cooler in fall, the plants will be active again.
@nhiluu4685

@@SucculentsBox water every 2 weeks but its up to where you place the lithop right? I place them under direct sun 6hours every day and it wrinkle and submerge in the soil

@@nhiluu4685 Yes it does depend. If you see that the plant starts to wrinkle or pucker, or appears to be sinking deeper into the pot and feels softer than usual when given a gentle squeeze, then it's time to give it a nice drink.
