Lance RV has been making quality campers and travel trailers for decades. This was our first opportunity to tour a Lance travel trailer and it did not disappoint. This is the Lance 1985 and it may be the nicest and most well-made travel trailer we have ever toured.

@@JauntJunkies Yes, very much so. Mine is a 2021 and they have made significant improvements in the 2022 model year (The door and screen door, ALL windows are the euro large opening windows, the Road armor suspension and the new stabilization jacks to name a few). Mine are all good and working well, but they have upped the game with the 2022 models...only "complaint" in the 2022's is the use of the small 4 inch generic exhaust fans (I think there are 2 of them - they are pretty useless and I took the one out of mine and swapped in a MaxxFan). They should not require their owners to breach the ceiling seals just to get a decent fan in there. While I like the included Fantastic Fan, I now have both the Fantastic and the MaxxFan, which is better IMO...

We ordered and bought a 2022 Lance 1172 truck camper picked it up last November. Absolutely love it. Some people don’t like these new type windows. But they are superior. They open wide and importantly keep the rain out so you can have ventilation even in the rain. Our older camper we had to close the windows when it rained

Definetly a great coach. Love the trays in the cargo and batteries area. Also the covered three 20# propane tanks. These are easy to exchange everywhere vs the 2-30# tanks. Tons of storage too. For my family situation, I believe the 20 or 2185 is the one that fits the mold. The one that has 3 bunk beds in the back with cargo door.

Great review. This TT is really well thought out. Super storage. I was camping this past weekend and walked in a Lance TT almost identical to this model (I’d swear it was the same). But when compared to a Northwoods Arctic Fox TT there is no comparison in build quality. The Lance has walls less than half the thickness, the roof is probably 1/4 the depth, and there is no comparison of the frame, when compared to an Arctic Fox. The big disadvantage of the Arctic Fox is its weight. Because it has such a heavy frame and more than double the insulation it is very heavy. I know my 34’ Arctic Fox fifth wheel weighs more than most 40’ fifth wheels Pros and cons to every brand and RV. Just depends upon what is important to one. Thanks for a great review.

I’ve been impressed with Lance quality for a long time. Not sure I would want to be walking across the vinyl roof and over the solar panel and A/C to get to the roof rack. Also I know many manufacturers have the foot of the bed just as you walk into the camper, sometimes even a few inches blocking the entryway I’m not a fan of that. Our 19’ has the bed at the rear so if my wife is napping I’m not waking her. But over all very nice

I purchased a 2022 and received it March 2022. It is now almost a year later and I’m still having the problems with it. For one the material used around the slide out his contact paper on top of a fiber board and that does not work, it starts to crack and come off. The cabinets above the sink and the cooktop are also contact paper on a curve and it started to come apart. Bubbling cracking. The shades at the front are guided by two nylon strings with some what I refer to as backpackers That pack the folds down but they are held on using double face tape, which then eventually come off and then the whole shade buckles into the living quarters. The mattress if you notice when in the video you flipped the mattress over the bottom, half slides down, and it’s not being supported by the platform and so when you’re sleeping, you feel that seem many other problems with mine and still after 10 months, I am still waiting for repairs.

I bought 2021 19bhle and so far it has been great. Took it out at least 10 times off road camping. The only complaint about it is the heater a bit loud at night. Hopefully the warranty will resolve your problems

We took delivery of our new Lance 1985 in early Spring 2018, so going on 5 years now. Prior to that, we owned a Lance 1685. Ours has most all of the factory upgrades, including convertible sofa, solar, 3” raised chassis for off-roading, power stabilizers, slide-out bin in the front storage area, and more. Here are our observations: Pros • A big advantage: To cut costs, most RV builders place their different length boxes on the same length chassis. This results in a less-than-optimal balance over the axles. Lance builds their frames to match the box size. Consequently, the axles are at the optimum location beneath the box, balance is enhanced, and it tows like a trailer weighing much less. • Fit and finish is excellent. Little touches like edge molding and the light fixtures are simply a cut above the competition. Quality components. • For a 23’ trailer, it’s very spacious, tons of internal and external storage. • Huge slide-out, comfortable, plush cushions, seats 4 adults easily. Never any mechanical problems. • Solid roof, 40-45 gallon tanks, 4-season capable. • Convertible sofa. It’s actually very comfy. We use it all the time. • Dual axles - rides smoothly and tracks straight. Quality tires. • Excellent solar charging system. We replaced the dual factory 12-volt batteries with dual 6-volt batteries. The batteries have never run down past 2/3 full, even over multiple cloudy days and overnight in cold weather. • Walk-around bed. The crawl-over bed in our previous Lance 1685 proved to be a pain and was one of the drivers that motivated us to step up to the Lance 1985. • Audio and TV/DVD system work fine. 6 speakers total. • Our 2018 Ram 1500 has no trouble whatsoever towing the 1985. A ½ ton will pull this trailer no problem provided you have the correct axle gear ratio. Our previous 2007 Ram 1500 did not and it struggled. • Initial price is high, but resale value is outstanding. We sold our Lance 1685 for more than we paid for it. Cons • As a rule, we’ve found that the things that malfunction are typically sourced components like the Dometic appliances, not the Lance trailer itself. • A/C is loud. You’ll either need shore power, a generator larger than 2000 watts, or install an EasyStart soft starter. A 2000-watt generator may or may not have enough juice on start-up. We once had a pair of Generac 2000-watt generators paired in parallel (3200 watts on startup). We attempted to run both the A/C and the microwave at the same time. It fried the circuit boards on both generators. This is an issue with any trailer. Watch your wattage demands vs. supply. • Slide-out external screws come loose. Others have noted this issue. Had to replace with larger screws. • Changed the basic shower head to a better-quality head. Saves water, increases pressure. • Lance customer service is just OK. However, the Lance Owners Association (LOA) is a fantastic resource for tips, advice, etc. • The inside diameter of the rear bumper is too small to accommodate the sewage hoses. Don’t know why Lance couldn’t use a slightly larger bumper (literally, just a ½” larger) so that you can store the hoses inside the bumper, on the outside the trailer instead of having to put them in a sealed container in the rear outside storage compartment. • Biggest complaint: The awning is rarely usable for two reasons. 1) It uses scissor arms to extend and retract. Sounds great on paper - no clotheslining as you walk around outside. However, if even a light-moderate breeze comes up, the awning starts to flap and risks torquing the arms and breaking them. The automatic retraction feature that senses potentially damaging winds is nice, but it retracts whenever there's the slightest breeze. There is no provision for attaching guy lines or poles to help stabilize. 2) The awning will hit the door if left open. If you try to extend or retract the awning while the door is open, you will surely damage the door, the awning, or both - significantly. In our view, this is a major design flaw. If we leave the auto-retract feature on, we can’t leave the door open. If we want the door open, we have to turn off the auto-retract feature, thus risking awning breakage if a gust hits. Despite the cons, all in all, we love our Lance 1985 and would buy again.

thanks for your videos , there is a lot of doors on the side of this RV makes prone to accident because the laches can open on road .... the second thing the shower is too small , the third thing instead of chairs and tables they could design a table can introduce near the mattress and sitting space there. the third thing how strong is the slide room eventually it will be a problem. the next thing what structural materials they used in that RV.Also whether they have mosquito nets in the windows which helpful in warm climate.

Don’t like the euro windows and stargazer window. We have them in our Little Guy Max and the shade mechanism has been nothing but trouble. The pleated edges let mosquitoes in big time! As for the “stargazer” window, when we go to bed after stargazing outside darkness is key and if you fall asleep with it open your gonna make a lot of noise struggling to close it at 5am. Also, the lack of counter prep space is a consideration-we do a lot of cooking when we’re out. Otherwise I love Lance trailers. They’re on our list to replace our Little Guy Max.

I don't think Lance uses wood as a framing material...the walls are aluminum frames and hard block foam insulation thermo-bonded between fibreglass....Lance uses composite Azdel in place of Luan wood, to eliminate mold and mildew. Azdel is also lighter, carcinogen and formaldehyde free and has better "R" value for superior insulation. They do spend alot of time focused on weight reduction (including the lower-riding suspension of the coach) to improve trailering performance...The roof is also a fully walk-on structure...

I thought I was going to really like this trailer and I do. BUT, bedroom windows are way too big, it needs to be dark to sleep. For me anyway. Black sink in the bathroom is a nightmare. Waterspots are white. Been there done that. Don't like the bed set up, change up thing. It has to be a bed and stay a bed but I understand the reasoning. Well made trailer, I love the kitchen even the step up dinette. Reminds me of our boat...thankyou folks!

I like the Lance 1985 it's a great layout, unfortunately, although they are made well, they have long term problems. The axles aren't rated high enough they bend and eat tires. The carrying capacity is poor, especially loaded with water. The tongue weight is 600lbs it's heavier than the specs state. For the amount of money these cost they're just not worth it.
