Jimny Tyre Upgraded from stock to Apollo Apterra At2 215/75r15
The Feedback is really awesome.
Looks great, steering feels lighter minimal mileage dropped.
Note: The height Mentioned by me in the vlog is not measured correctly, there is a slight rise in the height (few mm), but definitely not 2 inches.

Issue is we follow trend not basic physics, max recommended tyre size in stock 5.5J rims is 195. Rest you can try fitting 215 or 235, but it will create ballooning effect.. All the best for your build.

Thanks for the insights. After installation 215s I can't see any ballooning effect and surprisingly handling is better than the 195s. Though I agree with you that the stock rim is smaller, shall plan an upgrade in the near future.

@@Jaicara even i was planning to upgrade rims first. In straight roads it will work fine, but in quick turns and deep ditch you need to be careful and extra care is required for side walls. All the best for coming projects and drive safe.

The Ballooning effect to some extent is perfectly fine for off-road tires with a tall sidewall as it helps keep the tire in the beads when you lower your pressure during off-road.

Thanks for writing Anil, really appreciate. The height raise figures are not correctly measured. There is some raise in the height but definitely not of 2 inches. Will mention it in the description too. Thanks for noticing this.

I thought as much Jai,In reality the height goes up by 10 or 12 mm (am lazy to calculate now).But you are right,once inside the Jimny,you really feel up there with the other boys.Am torn between keeping stock tyres vs upgrading.Am seriously contemplating underbody protection beginning with the Radius Arm mounts..You got a good Exchange price however for the stock tyres. Happy Jimnying.

@@anilgangolli6681 See if you go off-roading often then AT tyres are must, my main reason for the change was looks and off-roading, that encouraged me to change them on the 2nd day of purchase itself. Though ride quality is okay in stock tyres too and especially fuel average will always make you smile in stock once. Do let me know what you decide. Happy Jimnying!

Nice review and even I am looking for upgrading the tires to the same specification and same brand my jimmy is coming on 5th August how is your experience so far on the wet on the highways was there a puncture are you fully satisfied do you think it is better than continental cross contract cc at?

Did it increase thr ground clearance from original 210mm? If yes, then by how much?

Thanks for asking this question Ethan. yes, definitely the height has increased. Taking the diameter of the tyre Height inches (mm) Stock Tyre Height - 5.37 (136.5) Apollo Apterra At2 (215s) - 6.35 (161.25) Difference - 0.97 (24.75) So overall lift is Difference/2 = 0.97/2 = 0.48 Inches I hope it helps!

Your tyre circumference changed 1.61%. hence mileage dropped. It could have been better if you have gone with 205 75 R 15

@@sairajeswararaov9067 Right sir, mileage dropped a bit but the overall ride quality has improved and the main idea was to get a little wider tyres. So the option were to choose among 215s, 225s and 235s and I went with the 215s Apollo Apterra at2 215.

Steering response is better than before but little bit stiffer on extreme corners. Hope it helps.

Why didn't you opt for apterra at2 225?

225 section is bit heavier so it reduces the mileage and this tyre is extra wider so it will throw the dirt from road to the side walls of the car. That’s the only reason otherwise not much difference in handling and performance.
