Today we are taking a closer look at the Fifine K658 USB Dynamic Cardioid Microphone with Live Monitoring, Gain Control, Mute Button, and RGB lighting effects. At the time of receiving this microphone, it is currently listed at just under $100USD, and honestly, you are getting A LOT for your money with this package.
For starters, the Fifine K658 features EVERYTHING you need to get it running out of the box:

The main body of the Fifine K658 is made of solid metal, right down to the screw threads. This is great to see in a microphone in the price range, as I find more and more audio devices are becoming cheaper in their overall build quality. The Fifine K658 microphone is a Dynamic Cardioid Microphone with a unidirectional cardioid pickup pattern. This means it is able to pick up the intentional sounds that face the microphone capsule itself while rejecting most unwanted background noise from around the microphone body such as echo, keyboard strokes, and more.
Everything you need is also housed on the main body of the Fifine K658. We have a large de-clicked gain control knob, touch-sensitive mute button, touch-sensitive RGB control button, and both a zero-latency audio jack for audio monitoring, as well as USB-C for interfacing to your selected input device (PC, MAC, Android, iOS, PS4, PS5, etc).
With two layers of padding and protection between the user and the capsule, the Fifine K658 does a great job at rejecting plosives when used correctly, and it should make a great travel companion thanks to again that added protection and metal build composition.

Johnny Chase just commented on our video about our K658 unboxing. Didn’t realize you were also local. If you’re looking to clean up the shipping sticker on the box, we were able to get ours off clean with goo gone. We were pretty impressed with the mic as well. I think we will be getting a pop filter and boom arm to get the best out of it.

Love the video bro. I've been watching reviews on this mic which is relatively unknown compared to the Shure mv7/SMB and other. I ordered mine a couple days ago.

You’ll love it Yasser, especially given it’s price and interface option. I would recommend putting it on an arm to increase its mobility in order to get that desired proximity effect you’d be looking for compared to the Shure Mic’s.

Always surprised with fifines stuff! I would probably prefer to tilt the capsule more towards the face to bring a little more bass for the proximity effect! I would say dynamic Mics like this similar to the dm7b can sound fine talking straight on but like you said a little tiny bit off axis will help. Awesome vid as always!

Put it on a boom arm as it will help with addressing the mic closer to your mouth for more of a proximity effect for your voice.

Honestly out of the box it’s pretty good already; however, the nice thing with USB microphones is you can run them into virtual mixers to increase the sound based on your needs

Hi SOCOMJohn, just set the dial at 60% and computer input at 80% while talking to the mic within 5 inches and 10 degrees off-axis, and check if the level meter on your OBS moves between -12dB. If not, adjust the volume dial. If yes, then your audio is pretty fine.

I haven’t used the Wave 1 myself to know the differences unfortunately. The Wave products are very impressive, so I may say at best these would be equal due to their own unique strength and weaknesses such as pickup pattern, mounting hardware, limiters, etc.

Usually means either your mic gain or gain in windows is set too high

I saw a video where it stated that it was a product defect, and you can contact Fifine(or the seller you bought it from) to get a replacement.. This is of course depends if your mic is still under warranty

You can't really show the power of this mic because it's pointed upwards.

Without an arm it was hard to completely address it head on. I approached it at a 30 degree offset and spoke as close to the top mounted capsule as I could and the results were actually very impressive
