Im surprise so many people liked the final result, i just started modifying and creating stuff for the game to my liking during over a year made a remaster never was the idea haha but im glad a lot of people take it like that :)

Like Ben said, if this was the official definitive edition it’d be perfect. It’s kept the game as we all remember, but improved in all the right places. Downloading this mod as I write this comment, can’t wait to play it. Thanks for the mod!

Do you have any tips or tutorials I could follow to modify stuff? I've always wanted to modify this game, as well as 3 and SA to have all the PS2 features, while also keeping the PC improvements (if any). For example, I've seen mods for SA that make it like the PS2 version with adding all the console vehicle spawn locations, fix the signs around Woozie's casino etc. but those also remove the stuff that was added to the PC port (boxes around Grove Street, cranes and pipes in SF etc.), as well as add other improvements that weren't in either version or were cut. I'd just like to have the stuff that was removed or broken from the PS2 version to be added to PC without any other modifications. I know it's super random but I've asked around in many places including GTA Forums and nobody was able to help me with what I was looking for so I'm just kinda asking wherever I can haha

I think that's why your mod is so effective. It's not because you wanted to make a remaster, you just wanted to change things that catered to you, that's all.

I just met Jenna Jameson last weekend at a con, and she has very fond memories of working on Vice City. The only other actor she saw while recording was Ray Liotta, who she really admired. She had just voiced Daisy in Tony Hawk 4, and when she got the call for Vice City, she was in as soon as she heard Ray was involved. All her lines were recorded in New York, and the game was rushed out as we all know. Got her to sign my PS2 booklet and an 8x10 of Candy Suxxx.

Awesome. Glad to hear she had a good time. Most of the cast did, most lol we all know who didnt have a good time. Gary Busey and Danny Trejo look like they had a blast in the BTS voice over recording.

@@1thevm1 I think so, Ray wasn't hip to video games so most likely. Yeh rockstar iffy on the pay. Young Maylay should have been floated a cool million for his iconic voice work. I think he only got 20k, I'm not sure tho.

I love that they used the Cutscene tommy model for this remaster and fixed the annoying collar issue, there are other mods that let you use the cutscene model but they are all bugged with this annoying thing where everytime tommy starts running, his neck clips into his shirt collar. They somehow fixed it in this one.

One more cool thing about this mod: all of the newly added outfits work in cutscenes. Wanna look like a proper biker for that set of missions? Dress up like one in leather jacket! Want to impress your new employees after buying an asset? Dress up like a businessman beforehand and enjoy the cutscenes.

I feel like there is a misunderstanding on who's actually behind this mod. It's not just one person that worked, multiple mods made by other people we're simply packed in together but the real work was made by others. TLDR: this is a modpack, not an entire mod made by one person

Completly understand why some people see it that way but the mods than i credited arent "simple packed together" in they majority are only partially used or modified for fix bugs the original author missed and that + all the optimazing, bug fixes about visuals, models, animations, manually upscaled hud and all the rebalancing in missions and game mechanics were made from my hand. It took a long time made all this come together so i dont want to the work put on it be degraded for use other authors work as foundation since never was the attention to be shared.

Looks really good. Minor nitpick: 07:45 I don't remember how the cutscenes look originally, but I don't think Ken Rosenberg's head should be out of the frame so much.

The cutscenes are really that broken. Check some walkthroughs of the ps2 original. The borders are covering too much and some times tommys face animations are also broken.

Maybe, but more likely explanation is that the original game runs at 640x480 resolution so you can't just show the whole map without it losing all the detail

I like how the pick-ups are fixed in this version, I remember in the very fist version they werent that obvious (changed into GTA4 style?) and the constant crashes, can't wait to try this out

I think when I saw the swimming and wanted level changes, it just felt like game design that was lost to the past. Where, if Rockstar were to come out with a trilogy remaster in 2006 on the PS3/Xbox 360 and didn't half-ass it, it would've looked really good. This is phenomenal and seemingly very simple for an upscale, an upscale I would've wanted as a kid growing up with the PS2 version.

9:52 thats an mk2 3 series bmw (e30). Calling it sentinel e30 is very cool bc sentinels in other gtas are supposed to be bmws. Its also time period correct. Nice addition.

@09:40 the sentinel e30 thing is brilliant. Im a car nerd. The sentinel is basically based on the bmw 3 series. The sentinal classic in gta online and the 3 series of the 80s has the chassis code of E30. Tiny detail... Awesome little touch.

You should tune in to GTA Vice City NextGen edition. It's an ongoing port of GTA VC's entire assets and missions on GTA 4, which is better than Definitive Edition due to the Euphoria physics.

I would love DLC for vice city that added a new island (or several) and crime related stuff to do post story (like drug deals, gang wars etc similar to the gta4 expansions). Unfortunately, I've always been a console player. If I bought a pc would I be able to play something similar to what is asking about? Sorry, I'm extremely ignorant when it comes to pc gaming

9/10 experience from my watching experience, only thing I would consider changing is as you said lowering the chatter frequency. Other than that I would 10000% play this. Big props to the creator who I have to point out SINGLE HANDEDLY did all this.

I just installed it and the talkative NPC thing was actually an optionnal add-on (at least it was on the latest version of the modpack) so I can play with the normal amount of yapping

Lmao you people are so easily impressed. It doesn’t make sense cause not every medical building is a hospital. There are walk-in clinics or physicians offices and such that don’t have access to ambulances.

Don't they do that? I mean if you employ a modder as a game programmer then they are a game programmer. Does that make sense? I know the developers of SIM settlements for fallout 4 were offered jobs at game companies

Idk if they hired modders. Maybe they did maybe they didn’t. I highly doubt it because when Rockstar released the DE it looks bad and it glitches, and constantly crashes the game. There’s mods that’s in 4K that looks WAY better than DE even before DE was released. Modders even made Denise look better because they downgraded her in DE. So i don’t think Rockstar hire modders because if they did the game would look better than what it does.

Plus when it comes to making a game or modding a game it’s all about testing it out. I see some modders when they mod gta games they test it out or let streamers test it out (beta) before they even release the final version. With the DE i don’t think it was anything happening: glitches, crashes, bugs, etc.

to me besides the Definitive edition of SA being the best there's a mod that has converted files from the Android version so now If i am tired of DE I can load up my SA PC folder that'll play like my Android copy with instead with Zolika menu and Mixtape will actually work (currently mixtape only plays 1 song when I play on my Tablet)

fun fact: rockstar did not make VC: DE grove street games did (they make mobile games and they're bad) but we can say that rockstar made it because they requested it

yes and no. R* were still the quality control, still paid for it, still accepted all the milestones GSG provided. They are responsible for how the final product looks and feels. Were GSG bad devs? Yes. Was R* doing fuck-all in terms of QC? Yes.

I’m a significantly better gamer than you or Ben and I just played through the OGs and the DEs consecutively and I was miserable while playing the OGs despite the nostalgia. DEs we’re infinitely better and did exactly what Rockstar wanted. A slightly modernized version of a 20 year old game with improved graphics that will keep people entertained on mobile unlike literally any other GTA. Why would they remake the entire game and put resources into rewriting terrible code and recreating everything when they have better GTA games that are exactly that? The DEs are great because they’re true to the originals but with a fresh lick of paint. Now, are the DE versions perfect? Well, no. But that’s not the DE’s fault. The OG game itself isn’t perfect or even anywhere close to it. I can’t even begin to tell you just how many glitches and bugs I ran into playing OG over DE. DE has some unique bugs but the fixes and modernization that it brings makes it worth dealing with a few bugs in DE vs the entire experience being miserable in OG. You’re more than welcome to your opinion btw, but it’s definitely another cope from a person who’s a long standing fan of a franchise that inevitably hates newer things. It’s not really a you thing, most humans aren’t mentally developed enough to understand that change =/= bad. Some of you instantly attribute the two together and it’s kind of sad tbh.

3:28 as far as i can remember this was a thing in the ps2 version of vc And it got removed in the original pc version

I didn't like: 1. Voices in cutscenes out of sync 2. Renaming of the Ocean View Hotel to the name of the real life hotel Miami (not necessary) 3. Pedestrians talking too much 4. Clothes changed of certain key characters (also not necessary) 5. Locations (e.g. Vice City Docks) in the middle of screen in opening cutscene A lot of other things are nice, but it's still hard for me to not prefer the original.

With how much effort was put into it and how much rebasing was done it would not be a free update in any universe. It could be a free update if it was something akin to reVC, but T2 blew that up for Definitive Edition, so there are their priorities.

@@_remblanc I understand. I wonder... on which version is the original mobile port based on? Them mobile games from 2011-2014 have the xbox hands, the xbox vehicles etc. So it comes from the xbox version right? Or is it a modified PC version? The xbox version was the most recent version because it came out after the PC release. So they ported the game from xbox onto mobile and for the DE they took the mobile port, ported it on PC, Xbox, PS and Switch to port it back to mobile for the Netflix version!? :D PS2 original release, PC release, xbox release, mobile release, DE release, mobile DE release...
