Has anybody tried the Cush Core? I know quite a few acoustic MTB guys who use it, but so far I only know of Hector using it on an eMTB.

I grew up in the 60s riding my bike in the country (where I lived) and I think my tires were goathead magnets. After lots of tube patches I started lining the tires with several layers of newspaper, and it worked quite well. Really cheap solution (there weren't any others back then).

Tubeless is the way! I also run CushCore with 20psi front, 24psi rear and haven’t had any issues. Don’t forgot to check your tire pressure often as there is no perfect system.

Can you use CushCore and Tubless together? I want this on my two bikes one of which is already tubeless.

Hey there @@SwiftySanders. You have to go tubeless to use CushCore.

@@HectorSalcedo Thanks! Thats perfect. I already prefer tubeless but I had a situation where CushCore would’ve been useful.

You could have just gone to the BEST protection against ALL types of flats and that is install Tannus Armour Tire Liners. The term bombproof is an apt description on the effectiveness of these liners.

💯! And they also act as extra suspension smoothing out the ride.

If you're never too far from a bus stop, you can leave spare supplies at home. Unless you're determined to not cut your trip no matter what. If your trips are very unlikely to make your tire sealant useless and it's never too far to walk to another mode of transportation, it might make carrying a tube and pump an unnecessary encumbrance. I may eventually get a pump though if I find a tiny powered one that I trust.

I had an idea but not sure if it will fly. Drill a second hole in the rim for a second inner tube. Please the first (flat) tube on the inside rim and a second tube outside of that (it would have to go under the first only next to the valve. Then put the tire on and inflate the second tube only. If you get a flat with the second tube, deflate it fully and inflate the first one. I think that would fly but I've never heard of it being done. A slight weight penalty but who cares on an ebike.
@FlyRidesUSA
@FlyRidesUSA 3 жыл бұрын
That would be cool if it worked! Kind of similar to the Cush Core in that it protects the rim a bit more as well with that extra rubber.

@@FlyRidesUSA with all due respect, although it's extremely expensive, a combination of Tannus liners, a smaller thicker motorcycle tube AND the proper amount of Flat Out tire sealant is the best solution.

@@powerguymark Tannus liners have a huge downside. The foam goes flat - if you always keep your tires inflated. With time, Tannus become nearly useless, unless you deflate your tires after every ride. On the other hand, Flat-Out does work really well. My favorite part is that it doesn’t dry-out with time like the competitors’ products.

Often times people will produce a short video on a product that they Have just 1st tried and really have no in-depth knowledge as to whether it will or not it works. Your video was comprehensive and very informative. Thank you. PS I just had a flat this morning. A freaking paperclip of all things. I used Slime, it worked. It was what I had on hand but I've heard that Flat Out is even a better product. Any idea?

Hmm, you missed the easiest option. As I have driven Schwalbe Marathons with it‘s legendary puncture protection on my road, city and trecking bikes for so many years now, without having a puncture once, I tried the Marathon MTB with the highest rating in puncture protection on my MTB. This tyre is not a Magic Mary, but if you drive all kinds of terrain, this tyre is a joy to ride. I trust Schwalbe and it’s tyres so much, I would never take something with me to fix them, because it never happend in way more than 20.000km. The tyre is not ment for downhill, but it’s enough for nice flow trails.

It seemed to have discovered that slime tubes aren't the best option... as I've had some pretty consistent delamination of the rubber from the valve stems causing bubbles... ballooning of the valve stem? Beyond freaking annoying... surprisingly I've had good results with just letting the air out until the ballooning Saddles and then putting not just one but two or three zip ties in series across the stem... And then ignoring the piss out of the problem LOL so much for confidence on the trail

I'm rocking a gates belt on my bike and yes its a bit of a pain to change that rear tire the first couple times. Also I know its confirmation bias but why is it always the damn rear tire when you've got a belt drive that gets the punture. had 3 slow leaks and 1 major roofing nail incident in the last 8 months, all in the rear. Only the nail killed the ride. Actualy got al the way inside the tube and started punching holes along the lenght of it as I went from full to flat in less than 100 yds. That said after you've done it a few times its not hard to pop the rear tire off even a belt drive. I'm not quite as fast as with a normal derailer but it only takes me about a minute longer now. Only issue is because of the belt tension when reinstalling the wheel never quite seats exactly the same way twice and I always have to adjust the rear brake calipers.

The best solution involves three things: Tannus liners. Replace your tubes with smaller thicker motorcycle tubes. Insert the proper amount of FLAT OUT. This is by far the best solution.
