Personally, I love the logitech brand, so I'd go with the logitech brio - I'm using a slightly cheaper logitech webcam which is around $150 and it does the job perfectly well, but I might have to check out the brio now. I splurge more on microphone and a good sound system.

I personally don't see a huge difference between the 100$ and the 2000$ in picture quality, the ability to record is a plus though.

I use a PLEXICAM, a FIFINE K699B USB MIC, a MAC EQ VST PLUGIN, and a BRIO 4K WEBCAM, a 10 inch adjustable Ring Light, AKG 240 headphones, a plethora of moving and stationary bkgs from Pexel. Plus I use a variety of sound ambient tracks from KZfaq The result? I get a lot of positive comments on how I look and sound.

Great video Mark. I tried the Brio a month ago but their software for the Mac was in "beta" mode and I found it buggy. Just ordered the Sony ZV-1 which has been getting a lot of really good reviews from other KZfaqrs. Hopefully it's as good as everyone suggests!

Is there a Tudor style building across from you? I think this is the first time I could see your environs reflected in the closet doors. Also, I'm a big fan of the Hawaiian quilted pillows on the sofa.

Diane, If you want a closer look go on the Behavior Panel channel page and under the "Community" section scroll down about a month ago. There's a picture of all the gents computers. Mark definitely has the best view. In thier last video we saw the sun set on Mark. His face was a glow. Thanks Mark for all you do to entertain us. I'm so grateful.👍🏼🙏🏼

The colour is warmer with the Logitech which I prefer over the Sony. Sony image appears sharper though.

The colors from the Sony camera are beautiful! Looks very natural. (I look forward to your review on lighting.) I use only my free camera on my android phone and it turns my hair redish, I prefer ash tones. Thanks again. P.S. Value is relative, I'm not using video for professional use, and I'm broke, so "free" is more up my alley. 😉

thanks for sharing, exactly what I needed. great idea the plexicam thanks for that too. those sony camera (alpha series) can be found now second hand for 300-600£

From free to $100 is a big jump in quality, adding the next $100 the Brio seems very soft around the edges but handles the centre better it's a trade-off. with more fiddling with the $100 cam settings, I bet it gets close. An alternate, and "also free" for most people use the phone as the webcam and the laptop to view the rest of the meeting. Doesn't work well for people that want to surf during meetings but I stuck a phone holder on the mic stand and it works out surprisingly well.

All look nearly exactly the same to me...youtube's max for this video is 720p. Honestly I think the lesson is that with max lighting, they all work the same. :D

Great video Mark. I actually thought the $2,000 camera/lens combo was a little weaker than the $200 option. I was looking at the background, and I think the "Truth & Lies" poster in the background was a little less crisp than the $200 camera. Of course the other side of the equation is the monitor being used to view the video. A really good image on a sub-par monitor will not look great no matter which camera is used.

Just so you know, Mokose has a c100 camera that has clean HDMI, USB 3.0 and records to a 256gb micro SD card for under $175.

Ths Sony images are fantastic, maybe not needed for a quick chat but if doing anything more in need of details then thats the one!

Excellent tips Mark, I went through a similar process, ended up giving my Dad the Logitech and I stayed with the Microsoft HD cam, but I do have a Sony Alpha 6000 and would like to see the results if you don't mind posting your settings? Honestly from my POV I did feel that your Logitech cam gave more of a warm glow than the Sony, but as you are often filming when the sun sets compared to the rest of the behaviour panel the Sony would probably deal with the varying light conditions more effectively.

I liked the cheaper webcam. I thought of buying the Sony A6100, but my iPhone seems to look better with the iOS camera plugin for OBS.

I can see a big difference in resolution but is it worth it? I kind of like a little out of focus look so, no. Not to me.

Thanks for video much appreciated, i am thinking about getting the brio based on your video seemed to be better quality. Just wondering what is your opinion with the digital zoom on logitech brio? I am trying to eliminate if i gestured towards camera my hand appearing to be gigantic compared to rest of my body and presumed if I position camera was further away then zoomed in then this would help. Hope this makes sense.

To anyone on the market for buying a DSLR as a webcam : Don't. Unless you got way too much money on your hands. You can find a Logitech Brio for around 100€/£/$. And you only need 1 USB port to make it work. I made the mistake, I bought a DSLR, now I have to buy a dummy battery, so I need to plug it somewhere, that's another cable on your desk. But I also need a Camlink, that's another cable I have to plug, Oh, I forgot about the lights aswell, Oh and something to hold the camera, that's anothers expense, Oh and maybe your autofocus won't work, Now you have to buy another lens aswell... I mean, keep it simple -> 1 cable, 1 USB port, 1webcam. You're not going to shoot a 4K Movie for your audience on your desk, right ? Keep it real, keep your money, spend it on something more useful.

First of all it's not spending $1,000 lens just to have a video cam. I'm sure the results will be pretty much similar or hardly noticeable with a much cheaper lens.

Wonderful! I already have the brio, and I love it. Funnily enough, I have it taped down to a modified cell phone stand so that I can see the screen and look people in the eye! I will definitely be looking into the plexicam, To make that process a whole lot cleaner!
