I wonder why, in general, women's coats are often thigh length whilst men's coats are usually 'waste length' ie just about cover derriere?

I have the North Face McMurdo Parka III with 600 Down, I am planning to go to Southern Patagonia in early February which is the summer over there. Do you think it may be too warm?

It's definitely warm but just pair it with a long sleeve or a thin henley shirt and you'll be fine. It's all about the balance of layering
