Recommend avoiding any Anker Eufy products for the time being, given the latest security (or rather, lack thereof) issues, as described on today's (November 25, 2022) WAN Show on Linus Tech Tips channels.

@@JudgeRightly Came here to see if there were any updates now that the news of Eufy's behavior has broken. Deeply concerned by the privacy and security issues they pose. I also heard about this through LTT and the WAN Show.

Thank you for the amount of effort you put into these videos. I can't unstate the importance of impartial reviews in this world. Can't wait till you're the size of the KZfaq channel Projectfarm so that you can put videos out like this more often (and comfortably have the money to do so.) It's bound to happen eventually with how comprehensive your reviews are

This is the second home in which kzfaq.infoUgkx0jZ_lGlDVJhDnmagEU8gn47cmfPNlLQU we've replaced our "regular" doorbell with a Ring video doorbell and we really enjoy it. It is very easy to install and it works very well, with a clear picture through the app and good in-home use (we added the chime, which is also easy to install and doesn't require another thought to use).

I really appreciate when KZfaqrs put in so much effort in creating their content. This is really going to help a lot of people sort through various options available out there. I am really looking for something compatible with ECHO devices, since I do not like to use my phone unless I am not home. Looks like Ring is on my only realistic option. Wish you all the success in your future endeavors.

As an IT professional and integrator myself, this is very helpful to push customers to watch to help make a decision. Would be nice to add if these have the ability for hardwire connections (like the Unifi G4 Pro Doorbell and the Ring Pro 2 I believe)

I had a similar solution kept in with a steel framed mesh door. Until one day when I was pottering around the house, I didn't close that door properly and my 50KG bullmastiff crossed with ridgeback and staffy broke through the door and dropped the 70 year old postman by his leg.... The dog let go straight away and it could have been WAY worse and the postie didn't even want compensation beyond medical bills, his ripped jeans and 3 days off work. Even though the post office and postman didn't want compensation and the council animal control services were extremely reasonable because it was clearly MY FAULT not the dogs fault the whole ordeal was more expensive than a doorbell at the gate.... So glad I live in a country where stitches antibiotics and a tetanus shot cost less than 400usd equivalent. Oh and a country where people tend not to sue other individuals for shit like this, not that he would have needed to sue me, I would have just paid out, I even offered compensation but he just wanted a new pair of jeans and his boss just wanted to cover his expenses which came to less than 1000 aud. Actual angels 😇 It helps that most dog owners just deny everything and make things hard whereas immediately regained control, applied first aid, called his boss, gave them all my details and paid for initial costs within hours and fully cooperated with the council investigation. All I'm saying is shit can go wrong and I honestly would have preferred someone stole shit than someone getting hurt because I didn't latch a door properly.

I have been on a pre-order list for the Reolink POE Doorbell. I think it may be the best option for 24/7 recording back to our NVR without a subscription and seeing as how we have a Reolink system already, the only real difficulty will be running the POA to the doorbell.

I have the original Nest wired doorbell and a Starling Home Hub which gives me event notifications and access to the live video in the Apple Home app. If I upgrade to the Nest wired (or battery) doorbell 2 then the Starling enables HKSV and allows me to saves clips to iCloud. Since I already have HomePods and an Apple+ subscription for other things it makes a lot of sense to bring the Nest devices (not just cameras) into HomeKit as well.

I purchased the Google Nest Wired (not sure which Gen) based on a couple of your comparison videos and have been really happy with the performance. My initial hesitation was the integration with HomeKit, that I have been trying to use throughout the house. It turns out that the options for tighter HomeKit integration are not yet on par with some of the offerings from other companies. The monthly fee does take something away from the Google doorbell, but I think its worth it for the performance that it offers. The video quality is excellent and I have had no issues with connection even with my wifi router being a good distance away from where the doorbell is mounted. Thanks for all of your hard work on the testing of a ton of things that I would love to try out for myself but would never have the time to put into it like you have!

Great video as always! I've been watching your channel for a good while now. I'm planning on setting up a video security system using 1 cam for the front yard, 1 for the backyard and a video doorbell to cover the front door (as it is recessed, it won't be covered by the camera in the front yard). I'm still on the fence about using an out of the box NVR or setting up Blue Iris. How do these doorbell camera's integrate with Blue Iris? I'm specifically interested in the Reolink Doorbell Wifi. I would also like to know how well these camera's integrate with Home Assistant, either on their own or through Blue Iris.

I would love to see you do a comparison on the app for the different cameras, as well as some ONVIF NVR's. I find that the most important feature to me is the usability of the app because most of the time I'm not trying to identify a burglar, I'm trying to see what happened and when. I've found the Unifi Protect app the be the easiest I've seen out of the couple that I've installed in different places. I love the ability to easily scroll through the recording history. I would be happy to jump to a different brand if I can find one that is better!

I have the Eufy Dual camera door bell and I love it. It has a lot of features that definitely make it stand above the competition and even your premium category. 24/7 recording isn’t a need for me so this fits right in. I also use Eufy’s security system so this just made sense to get as they cover the area before my front door. 👍🏼 I love your reviews and I watch them quite often when deciding on my next purchase(s), definitely keep them coming! 🤘🏼

This video explained a lot. I've got a question regarding video doorbells and security camera connection to WiFi. Background: Purchased Wyzecam door bell and security camera. Neither would connect to our Google WiFi. The reason being is that Google WiFi (mesh) has 2.4ghz & 5ghz both on the same SSID. The Wyzecam products failed to connect once they saw 5ghz rather than simply attempting a 2.4ghz connection. We are now considering Google Nest products, which should be compatible. What might you know about products connecting to such WiFi?

Hi Rob, Your video is great if you want to replace your old fashioned doorbell. I have outdoor cameras that cover the front door, so a doorbell with a camera would be overkill for me. I have tried using DeepStack AI to give me alerts, but the response is too slow. I have to believe that pushing the existing doorbell button and having that signal relay to my phone or Echo devices would be much faster. It would be great if you could do a video on how to retrofit an analog doorbell and make it smarter. Maybe using a Shelly relay? I'm willing to give up the ability to do a two way conversation (although the cameras can do this) with someone at the door for a simple relay that would send a message to my phone, and/or have my smart speaker announce "someone is at the door."

There is a Eufy 2k wired pro doorbell that has 24-7 recording for the same price as the dual, but it doesn't have the dual camera. Not sure if you can back up recordings to cloud service or maybe with a future update have the home base 3 support. There are also 40% off coupons from time to time that lower the cost on Amazon. Also the Eufy has no subscription with 24-7 recording.

@The Hook Up , in your estimation and assuming you notice this comment, would the Nest doorbell using Nest speakers as chimes and Nest Hubs as video targets offer a better experience than the Eufy (or Reolink) with their app installed on a wall mounted 12" tablet connected to in-ceiling speakers? I don't really need automation from my doorbell, just to hear when someone rings the doorbell, see their face at times without going to the door and speak when away. I have cameras +BI for all else.

Highest Value is the doorbell with local video and 2 way talk onto an iPad or smart Home Screen - reliably and clearly, because by the time you take your cell phone out of your pocket, load the app, wait for the video to come up, and then press to talk, the person at the door is already gone. Google Nest Home Hubs and Alexa Shows are suuuuuuuper glitchy and SLOOWWWWWW. Desperately waiting for Unifi to Launch these LCD screens that I hope they will integrate seamlessly with doorbell announcements. Any detailed feedback about the experience of announcements?

I was wondering if you looked at even more budget friendly option that look very nice. Tapo and Kasa have both doorbell, wired and battery. They are 3MP and 4MP QHD resolution, some are dual lens like the Tapo D660. They offer ONVIF dual stream with audio, have starlight night vision and offer local recording on the sd card. You can buy a subscript if you want for cloud recording but most feature are all free in the app, even remote view and record. I currently have a C225 Tapo camera and it's very nice. Is it the best? Probably not, but as my first camera at 35$CAD (had a rebate, normally I think it's 65$), it's a really good deal (i think?)

Eufy battery model can ring existing chimes and can still be hardwired. Needs to have the battery because all power is being sent to the bell while it rings which is why the one with no battery cannot do it. It's a bit unintuitive but the battery model can still be hardwired so you never need to remove it for charging if your transformer is adequate. The big drawback of every model with a small internal battery is the battery eventually fails and is very difficult to impossible for end users to replace without doing an RMA (Basically any doorbell that is compatible with existing chimes MUST have some battery inside to keep it going while the power goes to the chime) My old ring Pro died many times, I was buying parts and soldering in new battery modules every year, when Ring did the 50% price increase I got rid of it, gave the spare parts I collected to a family member.

@@UpcraftConsulting - agreed. I have a Eufy doorbell that is battery powered but can also be hard wired, and I have it hardwired and it rings my existing chime with no issues on ringing. I dislike the Eufy “splash screen” that pops up with an event before the actual event video gets displayed, but that is a separate matter.

I wish there were more options for doorbell cameras that will record to an NVR, NAS, or micro SD card. It is horrible having to pay a monthly fee for a basic video doorbell. My ideal doorbell would have the 1:1 aspect ratio Arlo video doorbell camera module, along with the down facing package camera, with the ability to record to a NAS, NVR, or MicroSD card to avoid monthly fees.

The Wyze doorbell in the budget section could probably be the Pro model instead, which is better and still falls within that budget.

Excellent video. Worth mentioning that you can do also 247 recording for $350 if you buy a reolink doorbell and NVR. That's the setup I have and I really like it. It's basically a camera with an integrated doorbell, rather than the others which are a door bell with integrated camera .. I think the novelty of talking into a doorbell has worn off and most couriers won't do it now anyway as they want to move quickly to the next delivery so personally I don't mind the audio being subpar. edit.. just got to the end of the video and my comment can now be ignored 😂

Hi greetings from Mexico, I don't know if you will read my comment, but If you do, I would like to ask for your recommendation for an indoor camera just for pet surveillance, I don't want it for security, my need is for wide vision view. Thanks and keep us with the great content of this channel. Regards
