I really like this "countdown" method of comparing different products in the same class. Would like to hear your thoughts regarding cleansing balms vs. other types of facial cleansers. I have used the Cetaphil facial cleanser for a long time but that's in a different category than a balm. Thanks for your very informative review!

The clinique cleansing balm is magic. I can't beleive it takes off everything! Just glide across dry face and every trace of foundation, mascara and eyeliner rinses foen the drain. AND no residue...but somehow my skin feels soft. This stuff even takes off mineral sunscreen! Love, love, love it!!!

I’ve tried the Clinique cleansing balm.. and I’m probably in the minority here, but I just don’t care for it.. I do agree you get a huge tub for your money.. I just didn’t like it that much.. my favorite is the Physicians Formula Matcha cleansing balm.. imo it works better at removing my makeup.. the scent is practically non exsistent in it, at least to me.. it doesn’t bother me.. I will agree with you tho that you don’t get a lot for your money.. I wish the tubs were bigger.. but I still will buy this cleansing balm as for me it seems to work the best. Thanks for showing some other ones tho that I may look into trying:)

My first cleansing balm was Clinique. After that was finished, I tried PH Matcha. It still left a greasy film after second cleanse. Then I tried Ponds. The fragrance was soo overwhelming, I returned it. Went back to Clinique. Especially because I caught Ulta's sale. Bought 2 :)

I think it's new but there's a cleansing balm from Pyunkang Yul that I would love a review on to figure out where it'd fit in on this list... I love their face wash and toner and thought that I should maybe do a double cleanse. My local (south africa) store that imports K-Beauty products only has a massive jar rather than a travel/trial size and it costs the same as the clinique does locally so I'm on the fence. On the one hand it would be nice to have more products that form a range but on the other hand the clinique one seems to be top dog. I mostly just need to remove sunscreen so for now I'll go for ponds because I heard that it might be discontinued so lemme scoop up that price point while I can :) Thanks for the great vid!

Looks like most of these require a lot of rubbing to remove makeup. I’ve tried a few of them, and I didn’t care for the Clinique one, if I remember right, it left a lot of eye makeup behind. My favorite was a Korean brand, Nooni Snowflake Cleansing jelly, which isn’t available anymore. I love Hada Labo cleansing oil, under $20, and melts everything off with practically zero effort….and now cruelty free. I’d be willing to try Drunk Elephant, though. I’ve also heard good things about the Inkey List Oat cleansing balm, and the Omega Complex one from Paula’s Choice.

I see you did this 2 years ago, and you may have updated by now. While I agree the Clinique is good, it always leaves a film in my eyes. I think the AOA Green Tea is a great dupe that does not leave the film and is less expensive. If I were going more expensive I would choose the Farmacy hands down.

Re: the fragrance in the Tony Moly balm - I don't think Korea has the same rules about ingredient listing, so that fragrance may be more than you think. This is something I heard a few years ago on various reddit threads - here's an article on it if you're interested: www.fanserviced-b.com/south-korean-vs-u-s-cosmetic-ingredient-list-order-differences/

Great review! I have 5 of the high-end balms you mention as well as the Farmacy one, I like the Clinique a lot, it is my #2, but my favorite is the PF Matcha one. I may be the exception but I enjoy fragrance in my cleansers and feel that one rinses off the best for me. Now if I would only put them all to use consistently instead of falling asleep some nights with my makeup on......... :)
