Best & Worst NEW Magic Kingdom Eats! Walt Disney World

Magic Kingdom is the most visited theme park in the world. Renowned for its rides, iconic architecture, cleanliness and nostalgic atmosphere. However, the snacks have never been the star of the show. That's not to say that Mickey Pretzels, Churros, Popcorn, and Dole Whip aren't iconic, but, the cuisine offered at Magic Kingdom often pales in comparison to its sister parks like Epcot, Animal Kingdom and Disney's Hollywood Studios.
Due to this, there've been a limited amount of fan favorite staples like the Chicken & Waffle Sandwich from Sleepy Hallow Refreshments and Gaston's Tavern Ham & Cheese that fans have gone back to time and time again. However, a few weeks ago, Walt Disney World revamped Magic Kingdom's quick service and snack offerings. Gone are the famous Sleepy Hallow Waffles, replaced with new Mickey Waffles. The Gaston's Tavern Ham & Cheese was transformed into a tart and there have been an array of new offerings at select locations across the park.
These new offerings include a new iteration of Tiana's Famous Beignets, Gumbo and Chicken at Golden Oak Outpost. There's also a brand new Creme Brulé Croissant at Gaston's Tavern.
We sought at all these new offerings to see how they compare to the classics. There were some hits and a few misses. See our thoughts, favorite new bites, what to stay clear of and whether we think the tart can be turned back into a Ham & Cheese if it finds true love.

Hi Sam and Jay! It’s all about cutting costs, we were afraid this was going to happen when they brought back the Disney Dining Plan 🍽️ Where is the Nutella and where is the ham? Although the crème brûlée croissant looks absolutely amazing! 🤩 We will keep going to Port Orleans French Quarter to get the Mickey beignets 😋 Thank you very much for your honest review 👍🏻

This makes so much sense! Wow, I'm still grateful we have the Tropical Serenade, Corn Dog and Spring Roll Cart though. The Mickey Waffles were not the vibe and the tart was sad. Definitely recommend utilizing Port Orleans for the Beignet fix! Thank you, we really appreciate your support 🙂.

Gastons pork shank that they pulled some time ago was fire. clearly these changes are money related. Sad but true less for more wont fly with most visitors. The difference between Disneyland food and Disneyworld food is huge.

Disney World has a some great restaurants and snacks but for some reason Magic Kingdom seems to always get the short end of the stick when it comes to new menu additions. Even the restaurants here have been dropped in quality in recent years. Wish we could've tried that Pork Shank! Unfortunately, this is the park most people visit and I'd argue in the long run, poor food quality diminishes guest spending accross Walt Disney World. Disneyland Snacks are on another level.

These were interesting. To us, the Mickey Beignets at Scat Cat's Cafe in French Quarter are the best in Walt Disney World. These were okay in our opinion. The bowls were solid and definitely felt like an elevated quick service option. Hope you have the best trip in August 🙂.

I felt that ham & cheese disappointment. If something happens to the Gaston Cinnamon roll, then that might be the last straw. I'm happy to hear the creme brulee crossaint was good!! Great vlog per usual ❤😊

I’m looking forward to trying those beignets on our trip in a few weeks! I love the ones at French Quarter so they have some tough competition!! The hot honey chicken looks good too!!

I don’t know how I feel about all the Gaston’s goo talk. But I’m all about the crème brûlée croissant. You can see the disappointment on Sam’s face when eating the waffle and I get it! Can’t wait to try some of these new things and I know what I won’t be getting. lol.

Gaston has the Goo Chris. Everyone in town knows it. The waffles were a downgrade in our opinion. We definitely recommend the Crossaint! Can't wait to see you and the family soon 🙂.

The Creme Brulee Crossaint was the star here. Unfortunately, over time everything changes but thankfully there are still some of our favorites around and at least we got a few good new offerings. Thanks for watching 🙂.

Thank you for the review I think you have been quite generous with some of your scores most of the food to me looks terrible. Just wondering have you ever given any reviews for allergies so many people have allergies these days and it would be good to have some recommendations. I am gluten and lactose intolerant. I have been researching the restaurants where they have allergy menus but it would be good to see you checking out these menus. Thank you for sharing the videos.

We like food and subsequently tend to rarely go below a 5. We honestly only really go 4 or lower when we really regret eating what we did, which is rare. Unfortunately, we do often film these off the cuff and don't do research into dietary information that much. There's a channel we enjoy called Princess & the Bear that are great at providing that info. I definitely recommend checking them out 🙂. This whole video made me sad. What even was that ham and cheese flat bread thing at Gaston's. I am excited to try the creme brûlée croissant. Ah well, at least I have my memories of eating the delicious pretzel ham and cheese with y'all. I can't wait to ride Tianas one day.

The Creme Brulee Crossaint was the highlight of the video. We're still hoping the Ham & Cheese can make a comeback. The tart was sad. I get what they were going for but that wasn't it. Hopefully we can all ride Tiana's one day 🙂. We will always have the Ham & Cheese memories.

I am so disappointed that they got rid of my absolute favorite MK snack, the Nutella fruit waffle, and haven’t been there yet to try the replacement. I have a short trip coming up so maybe I can try before I complain too much. I definitely want to try the crème brûlée thing at Gaston’s Tavern though. It looks amazing. Im anxiously awaiting the Narcoosee’s review!

I still can't believe it :( You aren't missing much with the replacement- I wouldn't go out of your way for it. The creme brulee croissant on the other hand!! YES! Thanks for reviewing all these new snacks. I was really hoping the waffles and fruit would still be good, but looks like it’s not. The pics that Disney put out made them look pretty good. But, they did not look great in a real life video.

Guys, first much respect staying true to your mom’s sauce. Moms always are best. But seriously it’s not a popular opinion but the food improved when dining plan went away, and now that it’s back it’s sliding back to mediocrity.

The Long Island Italian sauce roots run deep with us. I never realized the change in quality post dining plan but thinking back on it that makes complete sense. I really hope they don't keep changing our favorites! In the long run, there's no way lowering food quality can help guest spending. Right?

Great idea! Although we'd definitely need some time to film that. I'd say that currently our favorite Walt Disney World Chicken Parm is at Il Mulino at the Swan Resort. However, we're eating at Ravello soon and many consider that the best Italian restaurant in Walt Disney World. We'll 100% be getting the Chicken Parm there! Also, come to think of it, I need to ask Sam to make some Sunday Gravy 😆.

Everyone is different! This version is definitely less soggy. Hope you enjoy it 🙂. To me, the Chicken and Mickey Waffle was the superior option out of the two but I still think the original was superior.

sad to see a lot of these changes. Feels like "Changeflation" or something - where they don't think people would pay what they would need to charge (e.g., $18 for the Gaston's Ham & Cheese or whatever) so they keep the price they same but change up the item so the food costs are lower. Hope you get on Tiana's soon!

Shrinkflation has definitely been a theme at Disney the past year. Thankfully some of our favorites are still around. We definitely need to update our top 10 snacks videos though. Definitely sad, but that Crossaint was a pleasant surprise. Really hoping we can get on that ride soon, fingers crossed. Thank you!
