Max, your thoughts remind me so much of my brother’s experience. He deals with so many problems he feels undeserving to harp on. Simply watching you express yourself has brought so much joy and worth into my life knowing that he deep down sees me as the family you have been forced to create for yourself fictionally. To better articulate what I mean, I was at first very mad at the breakdown right after right after a smug face when it dawned that she still was mad at you (as I can see your choice to have burnbot still mad even after a few seconds of his breakdown until she realized you truly thought about your (fictional for this ex) actions towards her unlike what she felt), because I also thought you were just full of shit since none of what you said was indicative to why she was hurt. I mean this as burnbot never wanted revenge, she just wanted to be treated better. It was so risky (as i see in comments) to have done that because it could muddy the audiences expectation of her character. Leaving out that detail, however, would detract from the true message you preach in accepting yourself and knowing people don’t have the expectations we think they’re holding us too especially when overwhelmed without understand how to fix it. I can finally understand the pain I’ve caused my brother. When he cries apologizing, I thought it was a manipulation tactic to dismiss me, when in reality, he wasn’t victimizing himself, he was trying to grasp at any straw he could think of to try to articulate how he doesnt mean to treat me this way despite how deliberate and preventable it seems. I forget to be loving and kind too, but unfortunately even I fall into the trap of believing my self talk to know Im in the right even when I cause my own brother to break down crying harder than I have seen in a very long time. Its an extremely difficult reality for me, but I accept I have done that in my quest to help him. The road to hell was paved with good intentions. Thank you for your creative work Max. It has truly changed my life. I’m so sorry you’ve struggled like this alone, but I am so grateful for what you have done with it. The world doesn’t need to validate you with money and fame, even though the expectation that it’ll improve you life is there.
