I don't think this metal is silver because the silver is soft and easy to hammer it but this is hard

There are different types of silver which is why the UK has a standard called Sterling, so that its value remains at the same standard throughout the UK.

Annealing softens metals for easier forming with tools; hammering, in turn, hardens metals. A metalsmith will alternate heating and hammering until happy with a form, then will finally heat and quench the work to a finished hardness.

Just one comment on the translation. Using the word Rosary, doesn’t apply to just any strand of beads used for religious purposes. The Rosary is strictly Catholic because it was given to us by the Mother of Jesus who also taught us how to pray it and spread the prayers around the world. Each bead represents a Rose and has a specific prayer attached to it, and the Rosary beads help us to keep track of the 59 x 4 prayers without having to stop praying. Whatever these prayer beads are called in Japan, should be the name applied to them, not a Rosary. Thank you.

Referring to prayer beads as rosary is absolutely not exclusively Catholic. They existed (and were literally called rosary by the Romans) before Jesus was a quiver in God's ballsack. It's the Latin word for any string of beads or knots on a string used for counting words or prayers in a religious context. They were used to pray to Saturn, Ares and the whole pantheon hundreds of years before the Catholic Church was invented and they stole the practice. Much like they stole basically every other aspect of their faith.

The Japanese are well aware of this, that’s why they’re so big in the world of manufacturing, however, they have also recognised that the old ways are being lost and the Japanese Government didn’t want to lose their ancient craftsmanship and techniques, so they found the remaining craftsmen and began teaching apprentices to preserve their history and culture. These impeccable craftsmen are known as Japanese Treasures! ❤️🇦🇺🇯🇵

@@handwerkskunst_handicraftartsI think you missed the point I was making, The craftsmen was showing a way to make a silver ring but there is a quicker way to do it and he has the equipment to do it faster but that wouldn’t make for a good video In the real world it would be cost prohibitive to make a ring the way he has shown and I believe he knows it, I respect his skill but I think he was playing to the camera , there is a saying in my country “ tongue in cheek “ I don’t think you have an equivalent in Germany, I love the Japanese way of doing things and the theatrics of it all so I will not be taking my skills away any time soon 😊

@@OldDave750The Japanese government is trying to preserve all their ancient crafts before those who know them and can teach them, have left this life! They want to preserve their culture and Master Craftsmen, not do it faster with modern methods. The Japanese culture goes back thousands of years and they have much to teach us through patience, persistence, diligence and a deep understanding of craftsmanship and beauty. I appreciate their efforts! ❤️

Yes totally agree, I started my apprenticeship with a Master Goldsmith some 70 years ago, started making all by hand , over the years the industry has wanted an ever increasing cheaper product and so there was bound to be a knock on effect and the old skills are being lost, but we still do the majority of high end stuff, sadly we have lost so many Master Craftsman over a short period of time (us old boys are dying ) but thankfully I have two son’s that have taken over.
