He was one of the 19th century's most important revolutionaries, an architect of Italian unity and a popular ladies' man: Giuseppe Garibaldi. He was also a democrat who lived in a Marxist utopia but served the Italian king. He was a man who lived a life of exaggerated pathos, yet implemented tangible political measures; a man loved by the people despite his orders to open fire on farmers. Throughout his life, he proclaimed his great love for his first wife, yet remained a serial womanizer. Despite the many contradictions, Garibaldi enjoyed adoration and respect. Featuring interviews with his descendants, collectors and historians and visiting the most significant sites of his revolutionary activities, the film investigates the man who went from guerrilla fighter to national hero.

I don’t understand the title of this video. What does his romantic life have to do with a freedom fighter that stood for women’s rights? No more or less than many historical figures that didn’t stand for women’s rights.

The point of that is to stain his name by simply shows girabaldi hypocrisy especially with modern 21st century values Sure he literally conceptualise woman suffrage but at the same time plays with alot woman which in modern 21st value where woman is treated like a man is quite unacceptable

I wouldn't know whether there are more inaccuracies and it's rather trivial but when Garibaldi enlisted in the navy, age 14 there are recorded, official measurements and at that age he was 1.70, unusually tall for Italians, particularly back then, no idea whether he grew more but one would assume it.

I actually didn't know he was a human, genuinely spent this entire time thinking a biscuit led Italian unification, hence why it spent so much time in Sicily, due to the dry climate. This makes a lot more sense but I still don't understand how I got a degree in history without anyone pointing out my mistake

Spanish Bourbons.... seriously? Spain 1870-1873 had an Italian King son of the King of Italy. Spain had nothing to do for or against the Italian reunification. The so called Spanish Bourbons got to power in the XVIII century and had no connection with Spain.

Its correct . They are called the spanish bourbons as they are descendeds of philip v of spain . In congress of vienna naples and sicily were given to the Spanish branch of the bourbon house as compensation for austria taking the north .
