During one of our long weekends at Banks working on LokJaw, our supercharged Duramax powered '66 Chevy, Gale stopped by with lunch for the crew. The whine of a supercharger echoed between our buildings like a mating call. We followed the noise to its source... A 2005 Ford GT awaited. He was taking it for a spin in an effort to get the voltage up after sitting for a while. Gale was quick to point out that there are no nannies in the GT. It's a driver's car. And Gale is one hell of a driver... Even at 79.

Notice how banks is getting into his $200k car while his employee is getting to work redesigning whatever it is Banks didn't like to begin with? That's your dream job? While I admire and respect Banks, I've worked for a similar type of employer. It was always about them, their legacy and ideas.... I was expendable. Yes I learned a tremendous amount, but once moved on every door and connection severed with it.

And he is a very nice guy to boot... I think anyone who works or worked for him would be working their own dream job... No one gets to get it for nothing, like you seem to think... Keep moving on...

I remember when they first hit the show room I stopped working and walked up to see it and it was amazing as it is today. A few of them was destroyed within a month because rich kids didn't know how to drive. Good to see that one is still in good condition. God bless and as always be safe 👍

I could look at the Ford GT for hours. The lines of the car a so right. I have seen the Dan Gurney Ford GT40 Mk IV. Beautiful car.

Yes, I know for a fact that Phil Remington made the original "Gurney bubble". Dan Gurney also had a modern Ford GT like that, with a Gurney bubble as well. If I remember right, it was a gift from his wife. I know Rem was still working at AAR at the time, but I don't know if he made that Gurney bubble as well or not.

Question. Did Gale Banks invent the blow off valve? I’m recalling Gales twin turbo installations in the -70’s / -80’s, incorporating a sliding barrel valve, into the plenum, that functioned to relieve pressure from the plenum on deceleration and closed on acceleration, reducing lag. This was the earliest incorporation of a blow off valve I am aware of, but, my turbo experience, especially, back in the day, was limited.

That’s surprising to me knowing how much that man knows about air density and the effectiveness of different types of forced induction, if memory serves me right in that particular car a lot of power is wasted in heat because of its design. I wonder if he’s ever wanted to change a few things about it🧐

The 5.4s in the GT's are no joke. They will handle 1000 hp on stock internals, just need an newer blower and injectors.

When I saw this video, my first thought was of Jeremy Clarkson's GT and wondering if Gale has fixed all the gremlins. Apparently that's the plan with this car (e.g. voltage readout).

The problems with clarksons GT was caused by the Europeans trying to install a security system and they messed everything up. Clarkson even admitted it and said the car is fine is was the aftermarket security system causing all the problems.

I'm legitimately shocked that Gale hasn't put a big ass Whipple on it(with a custom Banks big ass intake?), possibly with a custom exhaust! As good as they sound stock, oooo baby do those DOHC Modulars sound amazing with a 'freer' exhaust! I miss these old school pinnacle analog supercars - the Ford GT, Enzo, & Carrera GT were an incredible trio of releases! BTW, fun story - MotorTrend did a top speed shoot out with all 3 cars and the Ford GT nearly kept up with them, which no one expected since it supposedly 'only' went 205... Well, the Ford GT was John Colletti's personal car, Colletti was head of SVT & the Ford GT development... and it had a smaller supercharger pulley & a tune LOL.

All three projects, Super Turbo (Monster Truck Engine), “Killing a Duramax,” and Banks Built are still alive. The two engine projects are on hold for an extended duration while we conduct testing for our military program (Banks Tech) in Dyno Cell # 1 & #2. The moment these projects are completed, we’ll roll both the Super Turbo and the Killing a Duramax back into the dyno cells. As for Banks Built, we've been tuning the Motec ECM and adjustments to the engine.

It'll probably take a massive nosedive in Value once you start Modifications like that, These cars are worth so much $ in Original Condition. Probably the Only car that rised in Value when you drove it off the Showroom Floor. These cars are definitely an investment.

Yea, but it is a knock-off of the 1966 GT40 (technically 1963 w/ Hobbs and Attwood driving them at Le Mans). Ford engineers aren't creative enough to make something new. Plus, it is the wrong color - ;) Giving GB a bad time - love his work, innovation, and contributions over the years - especially wrt soot. Thank you Gale.
