Beta initially designed the X-Trainer 300cc two-stroke as a stepping-stone machine for inexperienced riders looking to transition to a full-blown enduro weapon. But, as Geoff Ballard explains, this machine is deceptively fast and versatile, and has proved to be one of the most capable all-rounders on the market. “No wonder it’s Beta’s biggest-selling model here,” GB says.
To learn about the parts that Geoff Ballard has fitted to 2021 Beta X-Trainer 300, check out this video: • Beta X-Trainer 300: Ba...

If most people were honest with themselves, they’d go with one of these rather than the typical 300 enduro.

It's a top bike I have one, he mentioned everything I would have said as long as you are below 90kg , suspension is quite soft , fine for me at 75kg.

I love how Geoff makes the distinction of riding in unfamiliar tracks etc. It makes a BIG difference in how hard and how fast you can ride safely.

Its shocking how much better it works in tight technical single track than a standard enduro bike. it works well enough in more open terrain to not spoil your ride.

I've had one for 4 years. Mods help where applicable, but the platform is extremely capable off the showroom. I won't sell my 2017. Now that I think about it, I have yet to ride a bike that is so compliant, so forgiving for it's capabilities...big hit MX tracks aside. It eats the woods and rocks for breakfast. Bravo Beta!

I guess reviewers like to pull the "for less experienced" line. Actually it's a great bike for any level rider. Yes I can bottom mine at times, but overall it's the most fun ride ever. I let a friend ride mine and he sold his 2021 KTM 300 and bought a 2022 X Trainer. No looking back. Bikes should not be hard to ride and this bike is fantastic. It is also a bargain. Like all Beta - worst kickstand in the world. i also had problems with my battery draining. Despite these couple of issues (Beta sells a kit to fix the lousy stand instead of just taking care of it from the factory) It is still super super fun to ride. Before my Cross Trainer I rode a Husqvarna 250 4 stroke. I ride in the woods. Yep if I rode in the desert I'd be on something else - but for 95% of my riding this is THE bike.

What is the deal with the kickstand? And the battery?
@maico125
@maico125 Жыл бұрын
@@captainamerica9353 The stock Beta kickstand (at least on my year) was shaped like a ski pole at the bottom. Ridiculous. It would not hold the bike up in soft terrain. My stand actually folded under the bike and snapped completely off right at the frame gusset. A trip to the welder repaired it as the frame itself was not damaged - it was a clean break. I also added the bigger pad Beta sells you instead of including it on the bike. (Maybe they include it now in 2022)? As far as the battery discharging - that was something I struggled with - two standard batteries and now a Lithium. Apparently there is a discharge from the enduro / hour / gauge. Then I heard it was in the harness. I now disconnect my battery after every ride just to make sure it doesn't go dead - now that riding season is winding down it will go in for a fix. Too bad my dealer wasn't going to do a repair under warranty!

@@maico125 , interesting. I see on eBay that one can buy a sidestand pad for cheap (Chinese CNC) but agree they should be better from the factory. Did your stand break from mounting the bike by getting your foot on the left peg and swinging onto the bike? On the "bigger" Beta's you'd have to mount that way unless you have super long legs! Hope you can get your battery troubles fixed. Sounds like a crappy dealer, what state are you in?

Had one... everything said is true. Electrical odometer shutting off, and some awkward dying at odd times were the only issues (2016 model). 2T but without the crazy power band, and very light were plusses. Still considering going back to 4T like yz250FX for woods again. Spot on review, though.

How do they handle heavier riders? The local dealer all but told me it would be terrible for me as I’m >110kgs with my gear on and that I should get the 300RR. I was hoping that I could get one (XTrainer) and faff about with the suspension - is that a viable option/
@mcragosta
@mcragosta 3 жыл бұрын
i would go for the RR at your weight. XT suspension is ok for guys under 85kgs or less, geared up. Also depends on type or riding and terrain. It's great in the woods but not so much in faster open terrain. Other downsides to the XT are the wheels are not as stout (thinner spokes) and a small gas tank.

Don't let people deter you from having a platform you are comfortable with an enjoy! That is a wonderful choice for an offroad motorcycle! Good luck, have fun, and be safe (meaning buy and wear protective equipment, cause falling will happen quite often).

IF i had to Choose again i think i should have gone for something like this instead of a brand new WR250F. So, 1 day i was looking @ Buying a bike to GET OUT OF THE HOUSE And decided to Buy an Enduro BUT i did;nt do MY RESEARCH and sold the WR250F With only 200 odd Road Miles, Where IF i had bought This or even the slow Honda 4ride i would have been better off.
