Chancellor Jeremy Hunt tells Sky's Beth Rigby that he "does not accept that Brexit is the cause of the big economic difficulties we face".
He also explains how he regrets what he calls the "turbulence" that occurred around Liz Truss's mini-budget and wishes that it had not happened.

I think the Tories have done real economic damage for the past 12 years. And for some reason they keep avoiding talking about how much damage that mini budget actually did. I wonder if this situation is severely worse because of the mini budget. This is so disappointing . I despair at the economic situation ahead.

One of the best political interviews I’ve watched in a long time. Ever since Paxman angrily asked Howard the same question a million times over & over again, interviewers like Andrew Neil etc have tended to become increasingly aggressive. Firstly, I want the tories out. Stating that now because what I say next might seem contra to that. Is it me or are there some subtle colour distortions in the video? Beth seems blued out slightly which makes her seem like she's in a cold environment, I imagine to help the audience relate to her more. JH seems to be oranged a little more, it seems he's in a warmer environment, perhaps to put him in opposition to the struggles the audience is feeling. Beth's facial expressions are grim, whereas JH's are very smiley, again, seems like it's reinforcing the above idea on a subliminal level. Additionally, in the video when both are in picture, Beth is very in focus, but JH is very blurry. I might be reading too much into it, it might not be intentional, but I can see how it could be in order to influence the audience's perception of the two of them and what the audience is expecting from the interview and set an initial bias.

How is it that “International energy prices” are responsible for our economic catastrophe & return to gut wrenching austerity, yet the energy companies are making stratospheric, never before seen, profits? This chancellor needs to take a massive, ungetoutable, unavoidable, no loopholes, amount of tax from those companies, so we, the struggling members of the public, do NOT have to pay these outrageous prices! Why are we having to pay energy companies so much, just for them to make huge profits? For goodness sake, TAX THOSE PROFITS! So we can breathe more easily, buy food & pay our mortgages/rent without fear! I object to paying so much just so energy companies can continue to make huge profits.

"Brexit is a choice that Britain as a country made". Well out of the electorate 37% voted Leave, a leave that could have meant a Norway type deal or a hard Brexit, and anything in between. Sure more voted "Leave", but they didn't vote for the same thing. No way would leave have "won" if they campaigned for a single version of Leave, and one that was possible. Of course the 37% is more than the 35% who voted Remain. But, there was only one version of Remain in all the crucial points. We can't move on as a country until we acknowledge the reality. The country didn't "choose" this, there was a very slight simple majority for an undefined Leave, and then the powers that be decided to use that as an excuse to ruin the country and use that as an excuse.

After 12 years in power the Conservative Party BOASTS of their INTENTION to START up-skilling the British workforce to 1) reduce the need for importing labour through migration and 2) make the U.K. more competitive globally and more prosperous. They’ve had 12 years to do this. We’ve seen how capable they are of managing our economy. They could have done this a decade ago but chose the economic rollercoaster of Brexit which would pretty much guarantee to make the country, that’s millions of people, worse off over the short, medium and long term …. While a handful of people made short term gains. The govt are incompetent and corrupt. The majority of conservatives backed brexit at the behest of disaster capitalists who thrive on economic instability, despite the complaints of the U.K. business community, ignoring the concerns of those who import and/or export physical goods and useful services (as opposed to currency traders and others who profit from short term losses, the tiny, wealthy minority who make gains from any recession). They could swap prime ministers 10 times. Who cares? It’s the same party. The same philosophy. Their endless quest: “How can we help those who are so wealthy they don’t have to work, further exploit those who do?” They talk about us all being in this together and the current situation being nothing to do with Brexit. First the pandemic was conveniently global and conveniently unprecedented to mask the disastrous economic effects of Brexit. Then it was “Putin this, Putin that….” Yes Putin is a troublemaker but he is also an easy scapegoat for the human misery of U.K. citizens caused by their own government’s corruption and incompetence. Like Putin they lie repeatedly. We are sick of it.

It's ok saying how the UK can grow but what about the ordinary people who can't afford to put their heating on and are struggling to feed themselves and their families. He says that the mini budget hasn't had a long term effect due to him reversing most of the policies. What about the interest rates making mortgages payments more expensive and leaving people to struggle. Some may lose their homes and the impact will last for years to come. People are just stepping stones for the Tories to gain what they want for the rich.

And for those hoping that Brexit might get better if we signed more trade deals around the world, the government’s own economists have published numbers that aren’t looking optimistic. They’re saying that even if we sign a trade deal with both the US and India (two of the biggest deals we could possibly sign) it wouldn’t even cover a fifth of what we had lost with EU trade. Let that sink in. Brexit isn’t going to get any better.

23:24 of course Labour is happy with the budget. It increase taxes across population. Something like Socialism loves! The only issue for them was the Non-domiciled taxpayers. If Rishi put her wife to pay taxes here in UK, Labour will cheer the statement from the beginning to the end.

all employers and employees are being taxed out of existence - they should get together and agree just to shut everything down and keep it shut until taxes are lowered, net zero is scrapped, acceptance of the democratic vote to leave the eu is accepted by politicians and there is full speed for growth, and a general election is called + the size of the state is drastically reduced and gold plated pensions are stopped immediately............

I personally think Jeremy Hunt and Rishi have made the right decisions. Once inflation comes down, it mean cost of living comes down. The market reacting positively already and the pound is stronger. We just have to get through this global problem.
