Nothing can be more inspirational than seeing someone go through such unmatched adversity, persevere, and then not only blast through all expectations but reach such an elite level. This girl blows my mind. Surfing is a demanding, difficult sport. She has overcome so much and gets really good waves... Just so impressed with her!!

I love all of these Surfing Tips from Bethany. I have admired her my whole life since I lived in Hawaii from 1998 to 2001. My dad was in the Army at the time, and we have moved from Puerto Rico, where the beaches are beautiful to Oahu, Hawaii, where the beaches are equally as beautiful, and the waves are enormous. I have boogie boarded in the ocean since I was seven, and I always wanted to learn how to surf. My friend, Kaylee, is from Kauai like Bethany, and she would tell me all about her surfing competitions. My friend Kaylee and I would be talking about how Bethany was, and of course still is such a wonderful role model for us young girls in the 90’s and early 2000s. Today, I’m taking Bethany’s Unstoppable Year Course since March, and I am learning so much from her and her husband, Adam. I am so grateful for their resilience and love towards God, helping an amazing community, and putting surfing into the mix. On my 30th birthday, I hope I can return to Hawaii and learn how to surf 🏄🏼‍♀️ and completely fall in love with the sport.

Amazing. I started surfing a year ago - one month shy of my 60th birthday. whenever I 've been tempted to get angry or discouraged about paddling out through breaking waves or whitewash, pearling, or just gaining skills I gain inspiration from both your ability and your attitude. Mahalo!

Wow! that is inspirational. Re, paddling, the 's(reverse it for right arm)' stroke (that phelps uses) is the way to go, the new high shoulder pull, is good for some body types but, using the rocker and porpoising is the way to go.Having coached swimming for 20 years, I now find myself trying to get back into the water after 2 brain tumors that paralyzed my left arm and leg. I can limp and hope to knee board soon, pretty nervous, but watching this vid gives me confidence, Thank you

Surfing is such a simple and beautiful sport. It blends the energy thrill, with the ecological awareness, and the sense of community based on alt. values predating materialism. It is existentialist and extremist and even minimalist all rolled up into one. And I am happy for her and the growing tribe of fellow water people. After all, Earth is a water planet and water is our home.

Very inspiring, watched this again to get extra inspiration and ideas...I took up surfing mid-fifties when waiting for a double hip-replacement ( I am seriously Not a great surfer at all!) , that year no pop op and pretty dodgy just trying it, but by the year after surgery, pop up no probs-happy days...however, I'm hardly tip-top as a surfer, what with the knee being dodge from botched op' plus hips, but I was just getting into things when a fall from a slack line severed a scapular muscle tendon-muscle un-attched now, tore one bicep ligament etc...basically, though I hope my right arm comes back good, one arm is maybe where I'll have to go at least for a while...unlike Betheny though I never developed a good paddle before my accident...anyhow, she's an inspiration: personally I've done so much training and stuff when on crutches or recovering from various things but Betheny's courage, skill, attack/injury recovery and rehabilitation and good heartedness are so powerful to observe. Very grateful to Betheny Hamilton, wishing her all the best. Thank you.

I need her spirit. I have both arms and both legs but age has caught up. I started surfing as a child and it was my bed rock no matter what else life threw at me. In my early 50s the wheels began to fall off. Now in my 60s and after a couple of joint replacements I can no longer do it. Often I feel as though my life is essentially over.

Bethany Hamilton inspires me to surf. and I bet she makes surfing look a lot easier then it really is. she is a really strong women you sould watch the movie Soul surfer its really good 😉👍👏
