Moro no Reino Unido a mais de 28 anoes cheguei aqui com 21, por isso que cada vez que chego no Brasil e' um choque, muito difficil pra mim, as pessoas sao muito negativas e procuram sempre criticar ou achar algo negativo no artista, eu nao consigo sustentar uma conversa com as pessoas da minha familia, so muito superficiais e' uma pena.

He is awesome and so versatile in all music styles he tries, he simply rocks all them. He goes from pagode to mpb and even rock and I never got disappointed in his performance. Sadly we are facing a kind of devaluation of the Brazilian music (not only mpb but Brazilian music in general) due to the commercial pop/funk style... But talking about Seu Jorge, this song has very emotional, beautiful lyrics... Usually Brazilian lyrics, no matter the style (forró, rock, bossa nova, etc) are deep in feelings and even when sad and talking about the unfortunate reality, it's a hopefull sadness, it's very interesting how the lyrics go with a feeling of hope (I'm not counting on the trend commercial songs because these ones are more about what sells than lyrics).

@@joaopedro-zk3mf não me remeti a nenhuma preferência musical, me remeti ao pop/funk COMERCIAL, eu poderia também incluir o forró universitário pautado no comércio. Pelo lado das vendas, produzir o que vai ter consumo, é algo rentável. Porém a produção musical baseada no comércio apenas acaba afetando INCLUSIVE aos estilos mencionados. Isso porque uma vez que você produz focado no comércio, a liberdade de criação do próprio artista e diversidade se limitam para dentro daquela fórmula que se tem certeza de venda. O que é triste, na minha opinião. Não critiquei ao estilo pop/funk mas sim uma produção que se preocupa mais com o que "vende" do que a arte musical dentro daquele próprio estilo. O que acarreta desvalorização também dentro do próprio estilo musical quando a música se distancia do "comercial".

If you watch the movie Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou, Seu Jorge provides most of the soundtrack by hanging around Steve's ship and playing his acoustic guitar and singing adaptations of David Bowie songs sang in Brazilian Portuguese. He actually released an album with all the David Bowie covers he did for the movie.

I know someone in the comments already mentioned Seu Jorge's David Bowie cover album release for Wes Anderson's The Life Aquatic, but just wanted to add that Bowie himself was quoted saying the following about Jorge's covers: “Had Seu Jorge not recorded my songs in Portuguese, I would never have heard this new level of beauty which he has imbued them with.” Really high praise from an absolute legend.

You got me really emotional with Seu Jorge's background story. He's has just experienced racism in one of his concerts in Brazil and gave a very powerful speech about it days later. What's more beautiful in this whole video is that the chorus is basicaly saying "Eu não sei parar de te olhar, não vou parar de te olhar, eu não me canso de olhar" which means "I don't know how to stop looking at you, won't stop looking at you, I can't get tired of looking at you", and they actually are all the time looking at each other... That's so beautiful, so lovely

I’ve listened to this video dozens, if not hundreds, of times. It’s just such a perfect chemistry, emotion, harmony… it’s everything. He is more than a nice person. This dude has Soul, R&B, Funky, Groove, Samba and Forro in his blood. He is the kind of artist Brazilians should cherish. He represents the struggle of the black young generation that still have to grow up up in the hectic day-to-day life of the slums without any support from the State or care from most of society whatsoever. He also sponsors several charity projects to help other young men to have a proper education although nobody in this country gives a dam* and rather label him as “left-winger”. Viva Seu Jorge! Thanks for carrying to look his backstory up. Thanks to enlighten people over the power and story a voice can bring to ones life! 🇧🇷✊🏾

The first one who gave him the opportunity to sing was Xande de Pilares (Grupo Revelação) in a small bar where he sings with his group after several times that Seu Jorge tray to improvise. He was shabby and poorly dressed and almost homeless at the time. Xande de Pilares, who became a well-known singer in Brazil, said that that night everyone danced, sang and applauded Seu Jorge so much that he did not want to go on stage and just sat down to watch him sing.

Glad you finally got to these two brilliant vocalists. I have a special place for contraltos and have a collection of these lovely voices. And darker baritones. Maria Gadu is another contralto from Brazil. Multiple Grammy nominations. Julia Sanina is lighter nimble Contralto from Ukraine. A stunning voice. Front woman for The Hardkiss, a top level rock band.

the man in the video, seu jorge, was recently victim of a racism episode in a brazillian south city. he published a video stateman wich is finished by quoting "I love my race, I fight for my color, whatever I do is for us, for love" by raciona's mc. we're living hard times but we will win

Seu Jorge started his carrer as an actor in the movie "Cidade de Deus", one of the greatest (if not the greatest) movies in brazilian history. Then he started his sucessful musician carrer. Lately he starred in the movie "Marighella" as the main character (Carlos Marighella); i recommend you watch this film if you want to know more about the dictatorship period in Brazil. Actually he started his career in 1993, when he participated of a theater company called TUERJ as actor and singer. Later he joined the band Farofa Carioca. City of God is from 2002.

@@darlyzinhofilho5522 é literalmente considerado assim, só não é auto da compadecida pq a crítica estrangeira massacrou o filme por não entender. Mas são sim os dois melhores filmes, inclusive alguns professores recomendam nas faculdades do exterior, esses dois filmes estavam nas listas desses professores. Vc querendo ou não, é sim algo que é parte essencial da cinematografia brasileira.

if you are interested in checking out another amazing and quite astonishing brazilian voice, look for Elza Soares. she's been around since the 1950s, and is still strong and singing to this day. I promise you, you'll be amazed by her voice

I'm amazed by how much you actually researched about Seu Jorge's life and you got it all right. It shows the great level of respect that you actually have for your audience and for the singers aswell. It's a shame he is not praised for his career in Brazil as much as he is in the US. Anyways, great review!

Hello, Beth, I've loved your reaction to this Song and the two marvelouse vocalists. Another great and classical dueto from our Brazilian Folk Music (MPB) is "Águas de Março" with Elis Regina and Tom Jobim (the guy from "Girl from Ipanema).
