I love them both, but Maxwell is R&B. Straight up! The Weekend is a Pop artist. You have to be a certain age to tell the difference. With the exception of a few, the R&B category is lacking these days!

@Chris Cureton lol. The Weeknd's inspiration comes from Michael Jackson and music from the 80s, anyway he is for this generation but not really a fan of his music. "They" say it's R&B music but in my opinion it's not. Maxwell makes R&B I don't know what The Weeknd makes.

I’ll never forget when I first heard him. Was cleaning my room and had on videos for background noise. Heard the baseline and drum track and immediately glued my eyes to the tv. Watched the entire video grooving’. The moment the video ended, I picked up my keys and headed out the door to find the album. Auditory pleasure with every release since then.

Saw Maxwell perform years back(maybe 8 years) here in Rochester. Dude rocked the house the whole time with hit song, after hit song, after hit song Shits kept coming. I had forgotten about how many classic songs he made. People never sat in their seats. Dude is a true performer. Stuff was crazy. Best money ever spent on a concert.
