That's great Clara. I'm delighted that our video helped you understand the game. Betrayal at House on the Hill can be a little bit difficult because when the traitor is revealed, the rules change completely and they are different for each scenario, but I think the important thing is just to have fun with it and enjoy the story. The traitor is probably going to win most of the time but that shouldn't take away from the experience. It's a great game and I hope you have fun playing it!

Hi Pat and Glai: Great job on the playthrough. I really enjoyed the added sound effects, as it made the playthrough even more interesting. This is a really enjoyable game to watch, especially as the layout of the rooms of the house are revealed. Both of you are doing a great job in choosing scary and fun games that fit with the coming Halloween season. I am looking forward to what you have scheduled in the coming weeks. Thanks and take care.

Hi Keith, Betrayal at House on the Hill is a really fun game. It works better if you have 4 or 5 players, but we were surprised to discover that it can be really fun doing the 2-player variant if you cannot get numbers together. It's very atmospheric and the events and omens add a lot of spice to the game! We have 2 more great horror games coming up so I hope you enjoy those too. Thanks as always for your support!

Victor, thank you very much for your kind comment. We're delighted to hear that you enjoyed the video. Betrayal at House on the Hill is a really fun experience. It is more of an experience than a game I think - at the end it doesn't really matter who wins as long as you enjoy the story and the process. It is made for 3-5 players, but we had a lot of fun with the 2-player variant. I'm looking forward to hearing how you find the game when you get it. Please let us know!

36:17 I could be wrong as the third edition is different from the second, but for that demon movement, aren't you supposed to roll the number of dice by their speed and then move up to many spaces for that type? The haunts change the rules but that's how monster movement works, especially with different kinds of monsters. I also noticed earlier that you didn't use the junk room rules of the roll for might to affect your characters.

Hello there! You are absolutely correct. Thanks a lot for pointing out the rule about demon movement. I have made a note about it in the Klingon subtitles at 35:50. Sorry also for missing the Junk Room rolls. Hope you enjoyed the video!

You have the best video of how to play the game! Now...I hope you can answer a couple of questions - or perhaps someone can since Avalon Hill and Wizards of the Coast will not answer questions! 1. Do you count the Grand Staircase as one move? Some people do and some don’t in various playthroughs so it is confusing and I could not find a rule about it. So then do the Basement and Upper Landings count as one move? 2. I am really confused about the “1 extra space of movement” that needs to happen when you are in a room with an opponent. What does “...an explorer or monster must use 1 extra space of movement to leave that room” mean? Does this mean that you have one more movement over your speed? Or does this mean that you only move one tile and then have to wait for your next turn to move at your regular speed? I am completely confused about this. Please help. Thanks!

Hi Marianne. Thank you very much for the compliment. We're delighted that you enjoyed the video! As regards your questions: 1. The Grand Staircase, Foyer and Entrance halls are all counted as different spaces, so traveling between them takes a move each. From the Grand Staircase to the Upper Landing is also considered as moving 1 space. When you enter the Coal Chute, you move immediately to the Basement Landing. This is only considered as moving one space (i.e. you enter the Coal Chute and slide down to the Basement for only 1 movement). If you fall from the Collapsed Room to the Basement, it does not count as moving a space (whether you fall down intentionally or not). If you move from the Stairs From Basement to the Foyer, this does count as moving 1 space. 2. As regards the "1 extra space of movement", this means that for EACH opponent in a room with your character, you must spend 1 extra movement point to leave the room. They do not want you to leave the room so they try to block you. So, for example, if your character has a Speed of 4, and there are 2 enemies in the room, she needs to spend 3 movement to move to the next room (normally it costs 1 movement to move to the next room, +1 for each of the 2 enemies → 1+2=3). Then you will still have 1 movement left over to move to the next room after that if you wish. Stunned monsters will not affect your movement, and no matter how many penalties you have on your turn, you may still always move 1 space. I hope that this helps!

@@AllAboardBoardgames Hello again! You have been so helpful with this game so I hope you don’t mind answering a couple more questions - 1. When moving and you have to go through the collapsed room or e.g. the junk room, do you have to stop and roll as it says on the tile in order to keep moving? And 2. The Mystic Elevator - Once you roll the 2 dice and move the elevator, does that end your turn? Thanks in advance for any help!
@AllAboardBoardgames
@AllAboardBoardgames 3 жыл бұрын
@@mariannerice363 Hi again Marianne! I hope all is well with you. Sure, you can ask about the game any time. So, when moving and you have to go through the Collapsed Room, only the first player to enter the room (i.e. the person who reveals the tile) has to make the roll. If this player succeeds in getting 5 or better, then they can continue on to the next room as normal. Otherwise they fall to the basement and take 1 die of physical damage. Falling to the basement does not count as a move, so if they have any movement left they can continue moving to the next room in the basement, unless the basement tile requires them to draw a card, in which case they would have to stop moving and draw the card. Any players entering the Collapsed Room after it has been revealed can ignore the room's ability and can continue without a dice roll, unless of course they want to intentionally use it to get to the basement. In this case they still take the damage but falling to the basement still does not count towards their movement, so they can continue to move if they still have any speed points left. I guess thematically, the floor collapses when the first person enters it but afterwards, players can walk across the remaining floorboards. As for the Junk Room, anyone who wishes to pass through this room must attempt the Might roll. If you fail, you lose 1 Speed, but even if you fail and your new Speed would mean that you do not have enough movement left to exit the room, you still make it out and stop on the next tile instead. When you enter the Mystic Elevator, you roll dice to see what floor the elevator moves to (and it may be the same floor that you are on in which case you move it to a new location on that floor if possible). This does not end your turn, so if you still have some Speed left, you can continue moving to the next room after the elevator moves. I hope this is clear. Let me know if there is anything you don't get and I'll try to help you out. :-)

Hi! Where can i find the rules variant for 2 players? Thank you in advanced
@AllAboardBoardgames
@AllAboardBoardgames 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Miguel! There are no official rules for the 2 player variant, but all you need to do is to take 2 characters each and play as normal. Then, after the Haunt happens and the traitor is revealed, the player who was controlling the traitor gives their OTHER character to the other player, so one player is controlling 3 characters and the traitor is just controlling one. Hope this helps!

If I descovered a room with an item inside, can other players go into that room and also collect an item? Does that also apply to events etc? Can I exit and enter the same room to get another card, or once I've collected an item from the room it won't do anything?
@AllAboardBoardgames
@AllAboardBoardgames 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Herendill. No, only the person who reveals the room will get the item or event. You draw the card when you place the tile down and you cannot get another by entering the room again. Hope this helps! :-)
