Met Patricia Bruder (Ellen) in 1984; I wrote to her that I would be in NYC, and since I knew her family, I asked if I could visit the set, and she arranged for that to happen. She was very kind, and we corresponded for many years after that. I always hoped she would return to the show.

ATWT to me was never the same after the exiting of David, Annie & Dee. At least Betsy was around until the late 80's and Ellen stuck around to the early 90's even though she didn't have much of a storyline. I miss the days of this time era.

Ii did love the stewart house set and that susan lived in it for a long time. in a way it kept the stewarts around. but I did miss ellen in the final 14 years .

I watched this show a lot in the 70s. Having to go to school killed me because it meant I would miss the show. lol. My grandmother was an avid watcher and she would always tell me what happened on the show each day while I was at school. She watched all the CBS soaps.

I always enjoyed the scenes between Betsy and Kim. Besty's new friend Lois Middleton is played by Diane Franklin who had a pretty good film career in the 1980's.

About two years after this aired, Franklin would star in the famous teen sex comedy The Last American Virgin.

This was the best time on the show!!! Everybody was always respectful and kind to each other but yet there was always an underlying sense of tension just beneath the surface. It was fun and pleasant to watch and the characters were likeable and interesting. But later in the 2000's, it was just people hollering and complaining all the time.

Me too. Ellen could have given more story to Susan and Emily and their battles. It was stupid to keep her away. They never even mentioned her name.

I loved Suzy Davidson as Betsy. We watched her grow up. Then they aged her and replaced her. As The World Turns was losing ground at this point and wouldn't regain until Doug Maryland took over.

Keep those Stewart girls from your husbands! I wonder what the original songs were (that Betsy's 'friend' was listening to). She looks like Marcia Clark (Hilary Bauer). Dee doesn't seem as depressed here. So this is the start of her story w/Ian. Poor Betsy. The silly dancing from that girl was horrible and should have been cut (although it was hilarious), but Betsy's pain and isolation feel very real. Love all the tension with Kim and John.

I never could stand that disgusting John Dixon character! He still makes my skin crawl just as much now as he did 40+ years ago!

Don Hasting (Bob Hughes) said in an interview many years back, that the man who played John Dixon, Larry Bryggman, was one of the greatest people he's ever known. He said in real life, Larry Bryggman was a kind man, and very generous to new actors and taught them where to stand to always hit their mark for the camera. He said Larry Bryggman was the ultimate professional and he appreciated that a lot. He also said Larry Bryggman was a bit on the strange side, but nothing as bad as the characterJohn Dixon on ATWT.
