Season 4 is my favorite of all seasons! I never understood why everyone ranked it so low, there is so much good Nacho content, there is a shift in narration (Chuck is gone... what now?), we see Jimmy slowly start tipping over Saul Goodman, and the methlab construction, one of the most INTRIGUING and ENRICHING storylines ever, I mean it adds so much extra depth to Breaking Bad it's insane! The tensions are through the roof, the shit keeps piling up, and overall a smooth transition between the first 3 seasons, and the last 3 seasons. Season 4 deserves more respect from the people! I will fight for it, just like Saul Goodman did

Rewatches will be so kind on Nippy. I was expecting Breaking Bad shenanigans before the episode aired but the final 4 Gene episodes are pretty much a movie of their own.

The first 3 episode of season 6 were the best and that was mainly because of Nacho. Him literally on the run from the cartel was just amazing.

I don't understand the hate Nippy gets. Maybe it's just because it's such an abrupt change from the shock factor of Fun and Games but I found it to be the perfect display of Bob Odenkirk's comedic acting alongside Carol Burnett. I was dying to know what was happening in Gene Takavic's world and it really delivered.

I agree, a lot of people like season 1 better than season 2, but I prefer season 2 for the same reasons. It really feels like the show comes into its own in season 2 and we have so many great character building moments, and we finally explore jimmy’s and Kim’s relationship more. I feel like s2 sets up a lot of great arcs

My favorite is definitely season 1, i don't understand how bingo is your least favorite in that one, i think bingo is amazing and one of the highlights. Same thing with nippy, season 1 and the gene episodes are when the show is at its best to me.

For me, the season ranking order is the same as the premiere order. I really like all of them. They all have chapters that I like and great scenes. But it is true that the quality increases with each season. The sixth is the best for me.

My personal ranking is this: 7. Season 2. I like every season of this show, but to me this season feels almost like a transitional season. 6. Season 1. I did love this season, but it was pretty obvious that the show was still struggling to find its identity. The reason why I place it above season 2 is that I think this season has a very good and clear arc for Jimmy. It shows him genuinely trying to be a legitimate lawyer before that all comes crumbling down and he decides he can never be that. And I enjoy how clearly and simply the season tells this story with every episode pushing forwards that idea. 5. Season 4. I agree that this is generally an underrated season and it's only this low because the other seasons are so great. This is one of the more psychological seasons, imo. I suspect that's part of why a lot of people don't like it. I think fully appreciating it requires you to really get inside of Jimmy's head. Jimmy is at the same time suppressing his feelings surrounding Chuck's death, and at the same time almost all of his actions are driven by Chuck's death. Which can be a weird mindset to connect to. Until at the end it explodes and he becomes Saul. I'd say of any seasons this season is also the single most crucial to his transformation into Saul Goodman as it gives him his clientele and the way he deals with Chuck's death (or fails to) is what leads him to adopting the Saul persona to cope. I do think the superlab stuff is a little weak, but the pay-off where Mike has to kill Werner is so strong. 4. Season 6A. I do like season 6A and it has some really stand out moments. However, my biggest issue with it is that I think it takes a little too much time with certain things. BCS is a show that requires patience. Of course, we know that's the case. We expect that. But the Howard scam requiring THAT many episodes of preparation was a bit much for me. It's not that it wasn't entertaining, but I just feel they dragged it out too long for my tastes. The Nacho stuff was very good, however he's only in like half of the season. And "Plan and Execution" is also very good, especially the ending, but not to the point that I'd place this season higher. 3. Season 3. In my opinion "Chicanery" is the single best episode of the series and "Lantern" is also in the top 10. So that helps. But on top of that, I think the Jimmy-Chuck relationship was the core of the show for the first 3 seasons and this season basically goes all in on it. And I think with spectacular results. Every aspect of that relationship was layered and fascinating. So that really helps this season so much. 2. Season 6B. I actually didn't like "Point and Shoot" that much. I'd probably rate it is my least favourite episode in the entire series. Because I think there was some stuff about it that was a bit contrived and I thought the way Gus took down Lalo was honestly a bit too predictable. It essentially went down exactly like it was foreshadowed to go down and to me that doesn't make it very interesting. Plus, Gus personally going to the laundry to check out if Lalo was there rather than just sending his men felt kind of implausible. That being said, it does have an incredibly tense start. And I also think that the episode after "Fun and Games" is a very strong episode emotionally. This season in general I think has a lot of episodes like "Waterworks" and "Saul Gone" which I think are very strong on an emotional level. I think the way they used the Breaking Bad timeline in these episodes was brilliant. I think it WAS jarring but I also think that was the point of it. Because it being jarring emphasizes how it must feel to Jimmy to suddenly be snapped out of a life of excitement and be dropped into this boring, low-stakes, monotonous existence. I do wish we'd seen more of the Breaking Bad timeline, but I get why they didn't do it. Very strong finale. Very emotionally powerful and resonant end and season in general. 1. Season 5. I think this is just BCS at its best. I would probably put Wexler v. Goodman, Bagman, Bad Choice Road and Something Unforgiveable all in my top 10 best episodes of the series. This season really allows Kim to come into her own as a character to rival Saul in how interesting she is, imo. Seeing Saul finally jump into the underworld is exciting and engaging. And the way this season manages to blend the crime part of the series and the lawyer part of the series as well as Mike and Saul's storylines is just masterful. Such masterful blending of those storylines that I think no other season comes close to that.

13:54 - It is true that the slow build-up has always been a staple of BCS, however... Season 6A goes way further in this than any previous season. In season 6A episodes 1-6 are all setting up the plan and episode 7 is the execution of it. Before that the longest stretch a similar plan lasted was 3 episodes. Like the season 5 Kim-Jimmy plan is 3 episodes (being generous). With Kim first recruiting Jimmy in "Namaste" and Jimmy first approaching Acker in the final act of that episode. Then "Dedicado a Max" is building up to the climax and then "Wexler v. Goodman" is the climax. That's three episodes from the conception of the plan to the climax of the plan. Season 6A is double that, arguably even more since the plan was technically first mentioned in S5E10, which makes i 6 (or 7 depending on how you count) episodes of set-up before the climax in episode 7 rather than 3 for "Wexler v. Goodman." So while BCS often requires patience and goes at a slower pace with this stuff, season 6A really is exceptional in how far it goes with that idea. And, in my humble opinion, they went a bit far with it. I think it dragged out a bit more than I would've liked. Not that it wasn't entertaining, but I can only spend so many episodes fascinated with the mystery of what they're up to until I kind of want to see it come together. I feel like if they'd done it over 4 episodes (one episode more than with "Wexler v. Goodman") that would've worked better for me.

Great stuff just like your top 10 episodes list! Do you think you would ever share your full ratings for all the episodes as mentioned in this video, or are you saving that for another project? I'm only 12 episodes into my first full-series rewatch (a lot of individual episodes I've already seen multiple times, and a lot of scenes, but there's definitely some episodes I haven't seen since they first aired) so grain of salt here, but my ranking would currently be 6 > 2 > 4 > 3 > 5 > 1. Season 1 stands out as pretty uneven even though no individual ep is bad per se. 6 slaps, 2 has the best Chuck/Jimmy content imo, 4 is the most thematically purposeful, 3 has some of the best peaks, and then 5 is standard great Saul.

Season 4 is the best for me, the introduction of Lalo alongside Mike and Werner's connections finally makes Mike's part of the story as quality rich as Jimmy's and the end of Werner is the only time this show has gotten a reaction out of me and my gf at the time alongside Howard's death in season 6.

Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul have completely changed the way I watch movies and shows, i remember when i used to watch and want more wpic *BOOM* BLasT!! Action Marvel movies but now I want more calm movies and shows. I would rank Breaking Bad still higher than Better Call Saul because the highs of BB are unmatchable but I think BCS is better in some ways. Like the writing has improved a lot, i like a more calm and, as you said, methodical way of telling a story. Also this show is way consistent in its storytelling than Breaking Bad. You watch BCS S1 and S6, there isn't really much that has changed but when you watch BB S1 and S5, there is a drastic change in storytelling style... Season 1 has more of a funky "Yay another TV Show" vibe, while Season 5 seems like god has himself made a TV Show for us humans with such serious narrative.

Better Call Saul proudly & confidently stands next to Breaking Bad. Whilst Game of Thrones & the like stumbled long before the end - BCS stayed the course, stuck to it's guns & delivered.

Started watching this and was like "this sounds like that muse guy i watch" and sure enough lmaooo

"a chuck sized hole" well we must see completely differently on this subject because i found my self having a long awaited sigh of relief when chuck kicked the bucket. Show felt faster and more into the slipping aspect

1. Season 6A (favorite episode: Rock and Hard Place - least favorite episode: Plan and Exe- no I’m just kidding haha, it’s Hit and Run) I’m kinda torn with Plan and Execution and here’s the reason why: I rewatched the show a little too late and S6 just started airing when I started my rewatch of S1-S5. I watched 6x01 - 6x03 in one night and left 6x04, 6x05, 6x06 and 6x07 to the next night. The next day I saw the worst spoiler in the show imagineable. It was a YT thumbnail screenshot and text that said "BCS - 6x07 ending…" (you know what the rest was written and what the screenshot was). That took away all the suspense for me in the remaining episodes. Then I got to 6x07 knowing what would happen and I was bitter and annoyed throughout the whole episode and it soured my opinion on it. It’s nothing wrong with the episode itself, it’s just my experience around it that took away my joy for it. I wonder if Plan and Execution would be my Nr. 1 too like many others, or higher than 4th place in S6 for me if I didn’t get it heavily spoiled, but I’ll never know. :( 2. Season 6B (favorite episode: Point and Shoot - least favorite episode: Nippy) 3. I agree even if 6B is a little better than 6A. I rewatched season 2 it is a great season well written, my top was 653421 but I think I prefer now season 2 to seasons 3 and 4. It is : 6B (the two last are my favorites, I even prefer Nippy than Breaking Bad) 5 (Bad choice Road is one of the best episodes of the show, Namaste I think the episode I like less) 6A ( for the three first and Plan execution is one of the best episodes of the show, episodes 5 and 6 are the ones I liked the less) 2 ( I really liked the second half especially Nailed, less good is 2x06 maybe) 3 (the only season I enjoy more the first half, Chicanery is in my top 3 episodes. I liked less 3x01 and 3x06). 4 ( like season 2 episodes 7 to 10 are great. Winner is my favorite, Pinata one of the episodes I like the less of the show). 1 ( Pimento is my favorite episode, 1x05 the less I think).

1:Season 3 2:Season 6 3:Season 2 4:Season 5 5:Season 1 6:Season 4 My order is inverse order of each half of the show. I don't consider 6 two parts since it wasn't intended that way. To me the best part of the show is still the drama between Chuck and Jimmy, with the run from swapping the numbers up to Chicanery the best thing I've ever watched. Chuck hitting his head at the copy shop, with Jimmy watching on... with the cliffhanger of if Jimmy would run in to help... as tense as anything in Breaking Bad. If Jimmy was more evil you could have something even worse than letting Jane die... which the show kind of ends up there anyway, but takes a whole other season to get there... and it's pretty terrible. Season 2 is a lot of fun too, and Jimmy's square peg in a round hole Davis & Main job gets to me. And I like Mike's slow introduction to the cartel world, his scheme of ripping off the Salamancas is interesting to contrast with Walt's means of making money. Actually the whole of MIke's story is an interesting contrast to Walt. Season 4 isn't my favorite, but I think that's the point. It's empty and hollow, because something has died in Jimmy. And until the stakes get higher in Season 5 & 6, the slow pace of the show makes Season 4 a harder watch. It's great though, and getting to "see those assholes, one of them actually had tears!" is worth it. Season 4 is kinda like Nippy, a low point tone shift that needs to setup new points but the show needs to spend its time to build it up. Season 1 is actually pretty high for me, despite being ranked second last. I like the comedy, and the low stakes fun of it. Pryce is great, as are Betsy & Craig Kettleman. I like the sitcom nature fun of Alpine Shepard Boy, and Jimmy and Mike's antagonistic relationship. I like comedy more than drama, so having genuinely fun things going on, compared to the always dark comedy of Breaking Bad. I'm really happy that Season 6 ended up being as funny as it is, I was concerned the tone was going to get completely dark... especially after how tense Season 5 ended.

Here’s my ranking: 7.Season 2 4.5/5 A great season, just not up to par with the rest of the BrBa/BCS universe. Pretty slow and uneventful season however Nailed and Klick are two of the best episodes in the show. Favourite Episode: Nailed Least Favourite Episode: Rebecca 6.Season 1 5/5 I adore this season, it’s a more character focused season rather than plot focused however the character development is done extremely well and introduces us to excellent characters. Pimento will always be one of the best episodes of the show. Favourite Episode: Pimento Least Favourite Episode: Alpine Shepard Boy 5.Season 6B 5/5 I didn’t like this season as much as others, it’s an outstanding season however just not as good as others in the BB/BCS universe. I think the structure of the season makes it really weirdly paced and it suffers from that. I also think that the last 4 episodes felt dramatically lacking to keep me engaged. There are some really outstanding moments in this season however. Favourite Episode: Fun and Games Least Favourite Episode: Nippy 4.Season 4 5/5 Much like S2, this is a slower paced season and felt like a transition season from 3 to 5. The slow build up was worth it though since Winner is a top 2 episode in the series for me and probably the most important episode in the show. Favourite Episode: Winner Least Favourite Episode: Talk 3.Season 6A 5/5 This season was focused on closing off two major plotlines. The first three episodes were outstanding, especially episode 3 and were a great way to finish off Nacho’s plotline. The season slowed down a lot after that as it switched to a less action heavy plotline with Howard however the payoff to the buildup was amazing, Plan & Execution is a top 3 episode for me and definitely the best in the entirety of season 6. Favourite Episode: Plan & Execution Least Favourite Episode: Black & Blue 2.Season 3 5/5 My personal favourite season. The entire Chuck/Jimmy story is one of the greatest things in TV history, the dynamic between them is extremely engaging and Chuck is not only the best character in the show, but also one of the greatest characters in television. Chicanery is the best episode of the series and is a masterclass in writing, and Lantern is an outstanding season finale. This season will always hold a special place in my heart. Favourite Episode: Chicanery Least Favourite Episode: Mabel Season 5 5/5 While I don’t think anything in S5 reaches the peak of the Chuck/Jimmy storyline, everything in this season is so consistently outstanding. Bagman, Bad Choice Road and Wexler v. Goodman are easily some of the greatest episodes in the show and the entire season is so entertaining. Favourite Episode: Bagman Least Favourite Episode: Dedicado a Max

7. Season 4. While not a bad season, the death of chuck left a hole in the show until the lalo introduction. The Werner and burner phone arcs were my least favorite in the series, but i still enjoyed the conclusion to them. Overall it was still a good season, but i didnt like the cartel and the lawyer arcs in the middle of season. 6. Season 2. Mostly a build up to season 3. Not to say that this season had no payoffs in itself, the last 2 episodes were really enjoyable, but the overall aim of the season was Chicanery. 5. Season 1. There wasnt any episodes that i didnt enjoy. Other than that, this season was mostly in the middle of the road, with occasional above/below average episodes such as Five- O and Alphine Shepherd Boy. 4. Season 3. The chuck arc finally paid off in a masterful way. Chicanery and Lantern is definitely the highlights of the season and Witness, Off brand and Sunk Costs was really good too. 3. Season 6A. It is really hard for me to rank those 2 seasons because they were near perfect. The first 3 episodes focused on nacho arc, and the last 4 focused on howard. I personally liked the nacho arc more, but howard arc was perfectly "executed" too, especially the mid season finale. But the 605 and 606 drags this section down to 3rd imo. 2. Season 5. There wasnt an episode i didnt like. Like you said, this was the most consistent season, with no weak episodes. 1. Season 6B Point and Shoot is my favorite episode in the show. Fun and Games is a perfect way to end the jimmy era. Gene arc is my favorite in the show and i enjoyed every second of it.

Season 5 has some great moments, but the episode with the junkies running around and committing crimes left a horrible taste in my mouth that sort of spoiled the season for me. It was the only moment of this show that felt like a slap in the face, in a show that was otherwise methodical and cerebral in its storytelling. Maybe it served a purpose in that you feel what Saul might feel with all of his planning seemingly ruined, but beyond that bad section, I really did enjoy the rest.

Season 2 for me is the weakest because it has quite a few boring episodes aside from episodes 4, 9 and 10. The best parts are everything that sets up the eventual downfall of Chuck.

Season 1 kind of sucks but it sets everything else up

I really didn’t like Nippy definitely my least favourite episode of the show. Also Magic Man is underrated. Also I think season 5 is more consistent than season 6, but 6 is my favourite overall because it has amazing payoff and has my 3 favourite episodes of the whole show (plan and execution, rock and hard place, Saul gone).
