It’s nice to see you back in the studio. Thanks for showing the effect of the chocolate gel. Would never have thought the effect would be that subtle and nice. Doesn’t scream out, might not be identified by most viewers, but would have an effect on a viewer, I believe. I’ll bet I miss a lot of tricks like that.
@DanielNortonPhotographer

Cool, yes, it can be subtle, though not so much when directly on the skin.

Hi Daniel I always enjoy your videos. I've been a photographer ever sense the 80s, so what I'm going to suggest I all ready know but I'm asking this of you for those that may not know. Could you or would you give a class on how to attach gels to monolight units that have a modeling light, and maybe how one can attach gels to softboxes and strip boxes the right way. I'm sure some of your younger and newer photographer viewers may enjoy knowing the right way to do this. Thanks

I'm a little late to the party here but I always wondered something and could never find a video that covered this topic. When using gels, what WB setting do you set on your camera? Do you keep the camera set to AWB, or use a specific setting so that the camera doesn't adjust to correct the gels back to what it thinks it should be for a "proper" WB?

Thanks for a nice video. Simple setup, good tips. It seemed like the second filter changed the color or the shade on Farah's pants? Or was that just my monitor? Nice to see you in studio.
@DanielNortonPhotographer

Sure, if you gel the key light it will adjust color on everything it lights.

Hi, if instead of putting gels on the strobes, what about putting a warming filter on your camera instead?
@DanielNortonPhotographer
@DanielNortonPhotographer 4 жыл бұрын
Using a warming filter on your lens will affect the entire frame, by using gels, you gain control over the color of each light individually.

why not increase the exposure in capture one & shoot it like that ? because u once told in one of ur video that capture one saves the changes & applies it on all of the images shot after that .
@DanielNortonPhotographer
@DanielNortonPhotographer 4 жыл бұрын
Ideally, you want the "best" exposure "in camera" as everything you do to the raw file can degrade the file output. If the exposure etc is right on then you have more room later if you want to tweak/adjust for stylistic reasons.

We have to remember. A correct exposure does not exist. it's all subjective and subject dependant. A meter can get to close and afford consistency but it does not mean it's 100% out of the gate.

White/cream jacket threw off the TTL. (meter fix). There is no color brown. It's actually has orange in it although it's not as obvious as a CTO
