I've been using tracing paper rolls for a long time. Lately I discovered the soft diffusion of Ikea white shower curtains. For $8 - $14 you get a nice large (71"x71") translucent material. I used Klockaren because it was on sale, but they have a few choices. Side note: Ikea names its bath items after lakes and bodies of water, bed textiles are plants and flowers, shelves are boys names and you can look up the rest. They all mean something.

I've used shower curtain material in the past, they can be trickier to use. Depends on the setup. They're more floppy and don't come in long rolls. Haven't tried tracing paper before, having a roll of it would be much handier.

Good question, I think since the ceiling is much bigger, there will be a lot of light spill in unnecessary areas and will not light the backdrop evenly.

Great video enjoyed the ideas in lighting and also the background creativity for product shots. I have used white kitchen baking paper as diffusion from sides and 45 degress but not from above like you did. Although I have a low ceiling Im a speedlite guy and can get them up above with a softbox when needed however I often find myself using the ceiling itself as my big softbox giving a big broad diffused light with very little shadow but I fancy trying that overhead diffusion idea you showed as an alternative with more control over light, shadow and direction.

I am surprised that anyone is suggesting tracing paper with continuous light. It is a fire hazard. Just because a few Pro's do it and haven't had a fire doesn't mean its safe.
