Viktor Evgenyevich Poletaev (Russian: Виктор Евгеньевич Полетаев) (born 27 July 1995) is a Russian volleyball player. He is a member of the Russia men's national volleyball team and Russian club Zenit Saint Petersburg.
Career
National team
In 2012-2013 he was a member of Russia men's national volleyball team U19. In 2013 he won with this team his first medal at European Championship U19 and he received individual award for Most Valuable Player. Then he achieved second success, a title of World Champion U19 and he was Best Opposite Spiker. In the same year he went to team Russia U21, where as 18 year old player achieved gold at World Championship U21 and title of Most valuable Player. [1] In 2014 gained title of European Champion U21. In 2015 Poletaev went to senior team of Russia and took part in first senior tournament in his career - European Games 2015. He won with team mates bronze medal.

Poletaev is pure physique whereas Nishida's angle cannot be defended. It always looks spectacular, when Nishida plays. I'd go with Poletaev, though, because he is able to make every block player look like a toddler. Also, many here point out Nishida's vertical jump. Nishida is 186 cm and his highest spike is 346cm, whereas Poletaev is 196 cm and his maximum spike is 375 cm. You can deduct a few centimetres of natural outreach but fact is Poletaev's vertical jump is better than Nishida's.

Im with Nishida, he’s a star and always has been, he grew up with volleyball ever since five years old and has never stoped. He has a great team with him so he can never fail with the help of great friends

Nishida’s jump is better than poletaev, actually his jump is the best in the world of volley right now, but you can’t say that he is better than a player who already won 2x cev champions league (this is the hardest title to attain if you are a player) & an olympic silver medal. While he only won japanese v league. Here are some of the top opposites. this guy jumps more than Nishida ,197 cm is usually more or less 258 stretching arms and reaches 375 , Nishida 186 more or less 242 stretching arms reaches 347 . . Poletaev vertical jump 107 Nishida 105.

At thé beginning the stat show that poleteav hit 360 not 375 so i guess it create kind a gap in height difference about 15 cm lower jump that make him jump about 92cm

@@Alexis-ww6it if you have played volleyball you don t really have to read the stats and you realise that Patch Leon Poletaev Robertlandy marshall easily reach more than 360 .Those people have uncommon physical gifts .And they are tall. The best team in the world now is probably Lube Civitanova. All players have incredible vertical jump and reach . So the Zenith Kazan . Nishida is good , considering he s 186 is very good . But he cannot compete with those people.He s a clever strong player who jumps a lot and hit well. But is hard to be competitive in blocks with people who is 20 cm more than you.when you stretch the arms those 20 cm became 37 or more and hands are bigger, great advantage while blocking.But a lot of people with a greater vertical reach than Nishida are not as good as Nishida.

@@Alexis-ww6it those spike stats are total bs I would never trust them, they list streko lisinac as a lower spike than nishida and anyone who has ever seen both play knows that’s completely false. Spike height is easily the most overrated stat in volleyball.

They don't know how the best the other veterans vball player like Zaystev, Leon, Matt anderson, Juantorena, Ngapeth,Bruno, Giba, Marshall, Grozer, Wallace, Leal , maksim mikhaylov, Kurek and Etc. They higherly praise Nishida because he is Left Handed , high vertical and 6'1 ft height because of this they said he is the best vball player... No, he is not the best don't compare nishida to veterans . Veterans are just better and they got a many awards in Fivb. I think the people who's thinking nishida is the best its seems they are new watcher in Fivb tournament They don't know how the best the veterans vball player .lol😂

I think no one said that XD Nishida is impressive because of his vertical leap (44inches) and his height (it seems like the standard height to be an spiker is +2.00m), furthermore, we can´t deny that Nishida has a good and stronger service. You can clearly see that Nishida is not an average player, having a +40 vertical leap is something rare in volleyball (most players are taller and heavier) and Victor is also impressive because of that (1.97cm and a 43 inches). There exist one difference between those veterans and Nishida, is the experience... so, you´re trying to hate a guy that's ridiculously good with that age and that "short" height XD and i'm agree with you, Victor is better attacker and blocker than Nishida, but Nishida has a better floor defence with an stronger serve. i guess you are the number 4 in those videos... so, don't get cocky because of your height XD it's a nice thing to see other people being inspired thanks to Nishida ._.

@@Alejandro-hq5eu poletaev isn't a veteran, he's only 26. Maxim Mikhailov is a veteran. Nishida is above average compared to the everyday volleyball player, but on the international stage, he is below average. Based on all the attention he gets on youtube, you'd think he's one of the best players in the world. In reality, he's not even top 10 for his position.

Uhm cause most of the japanese fans now came from haikyuu, and it’s very understandable that they think nishida is the best player cause again because of haikyuu, a japanese anime. And also people think that he is the best, because of his jump (which is really impressive). And maybe some of them don’t watch that much international vball if japan is not playing.

@@emildon he is overrated, but you are so wrong. Just look at the last world cup. He was the best in team against Poland; made not only cool spikes and serves, but incredible digs against Brazil; finally he saved 4th place for Japan, when all team couldn't beat Canada (yeah, there wasn't main roster, i know). So I disagree with you, Poletaev and Nishida are almost equal: equal powerful serves, Poletaev a little bit better in attack, Nishida better in defence.

@@jirikkkonecny4641 no it’s just basic skills, nishida has yet to perform at poltaevs level in an equal league. If nishida comes to a European league( which are objectively stronger leagues than the Japanese league) and dominates then we can talk about nishida being as good as poltaev. To this point, nishida gets sheltered against most of the top teams in the world, while poltaev starts. Just consider that before you simply say height>skill, but poltaev definitely can match nishida skill for skill. Nishida may hit harder, but polataev is a really smart hitter who abuses his strengths better than nishida does.

Ehm excuse me but first of all lets just not talk about ishikawa, because hes playing outside hitter and poletaev is playing opposite. And youre like these overrating nishida fans whos only watching Highlights. So to even be able to compare nishida and poletaev, nishida has to dominate one of the top european leagues (russian,italian). If you watch russian superleague then you get to see poletaev dominating.
