Do you have community that you can safely share your emotions with?
Where you can vulnerably say … “I feel” without fear or shame?
Emotions are best healed in community - to be truly seen, soothed, safe, and not alone in pain - can provide deep healing.
Candace and Jennie sit down to talk about friendship + how God calls us to “bear one another’s burdens.” If you are looking for encouragement around:
- What makes friendships stick long-term
- How to show up well for friends when they need you most
- Ways you can “go-there” emotionally with community
- Healing friendships that have caused emotional wounds
Then tune in! Better yet, send this episode to someone in your community - listen together and talk about it. We hope this episode inspires vulnerable conversations within your friendships.

Can I just say, about the being friends with non-believers part - that’s so important. I should know, because my friends are the ones who eventually brought me to Christ over the course of our friendship. They never pushed. They never made me feel othered. I just eventually saw this light in them and realized I needed that light in my life too…that’s the way to do it. It was never someone screaming on the street corners for me (actually it made me think Christians were crazy/hateful, honestly). It was just normal people who happened to be Christians that brought me and many others closer to God.

💯 I definitely agree with the community and wanting family close. I have been praying for this all my life and desire it to be my goal for myself and my daughter her boyfriend and soon to be baby girl Harmony 5-17-24. I will never stop praying and wishing for this. THANK YOU 🙏THANK YOU 🙏 THANK YOU 🙏 GOD

I really enjoyed your conversation today. Friendships do change over the years. Couple relationships are wonderful as long as they last. I'm an older listener who has been a widow for 2 years. One couple and we were very close for 40 years. First, Karen passed, then 6 months later, my husband. Bill just died at Easter, and I find it difficult being the only one left of that particular group. Thankfully, I've developed several friendships with fellow widows and others in the last 2 years who help fill my life. I'm just commenting because ìt is very difficult when couple friendships come to an end. I am looking forward to the 4 of us spending time together in heaven. So enjoy all your friendships as much as possible. I'm 20 years ahead of you, and the older we get, the more friends we say goodbye to. So keep adding friends to your life.

Great conversation today! I'm 60 years old & my 8 high school friends talk daily through the Marco Polo app. We still keep each other accountable and share our daily ups and downs with each other. We are so blessed that God placed us all together so many years ago.

Great episode! I have had many of these thoughts. Jealous of my friends hanging out without me, constantly having to be the one to initiate in order to be invited, and just feeling like no one has time for me. This conversation has me wanting to reflect and make sure I’m a better friend first! Community is important and I need to work on cultivating mine! Also love the part of the conversation where Jennie said that in America the odds are stacked against us! We aren’t set up like villages here like God intends for us!

I really resonated with what you said Candace about wanting an in-person community. It is hard sometimes to keep up with or make friends as a caregiver. I felt seen with this episode. I also loved what Jennie said about fighting for a good friendship, initiating contact, and believing that the 6th friend after 5 not so good ones could be a lifer. This gave me hope to keep trying. 😊❤

Thats why guarding your heart is important. Don't let yourself tell something you really don't want them to know. Just know who you can trust that knows all about you. Pray with them . Thank you for sharing this with all of us who listen weekly. God bless you both

It's unfortunate, but it's comforting to hear you say many parents/ families have a child/ teen that is having a hard time. It's such a struggle and we in our house feel like we are in the minority and don't know what to do to smooth the path we are in so it's less miserable.

Her life sounds like a fairytale. I’m with Candace it’s something I want just haven’t found a couple group where we all mesh, or where we all hang out. I’m actually okay with girls and guys separating while visiting it’s the awkwardness that I can do without but that’s probably a me issue
