Cindy Kallet and Grey Larsen, in concert in Lyons, Colorado, performing three traditional southern Indiana fiddle tunes from the repertoire of fiddler Joe Dawson (b. 1928). The first is a waltz, while the second and third are faster tunes. Southern Indiana is part of the Appalachian diaspora, where a regional variety of Appalachian music has been evolving for many years. Joe Dawson is the prime tradition bearer for old-time fiddling from Brown and Monroe Counties in Indiana.
Before they play, Grey gives a lengthy introduction about Mr. Dawson and these tunes.
Cindy and Grey recorded several more of Joe Dawson's tunes on their CD, "Cross the Water".
