You gotta sell it like you’re actually driving…
Hit a HARD jab with your front foot of the leg you’re crossing between, as the ball is going between your legs. Shift your weight with the ball as you cross over & then push the ground away & hop back a little to create separation. The idea is to get your defender moving backwards on their heels on the BTL
Working on speeding up your “pick up” of the ball off the dribble & into the shot helps a lot too. Can be countered with a couple different variations of a deadly fake pick up hesitation move

I think Tim Hardaway might’ve originated this one tho but Harden definitely a master of this move 💯

@@nylesreed6971 Think I’ve seen a clip of Hardaway using this for sure. The first time I was actually introduced to it was before Harden was in the league - Nike Basketball used to do a “signature move” series with their basketball guys. They would have a player get on the court & break down like 4 of their favorite moves, plus counters to that move. Kobe, LeBron, Manu, KD, Deron Williams, Kyrie, etc all got one. LeBron’s was the between the legs step back. Definitely a staple of Harden’s game though. I’d say he & Anthony Edwards use it as much as anyone
