I really enjoyed going out and visiting a location that is way out of the norm compared to where we typically go, and it's neat to learn about the local geology of the area.
The teredo wood is fascinating, and I really wish we found more of it.

Wow, that’s a fantastic specimen of pet wood! From my experience with concretions, the success rate varies wildly from site to site. At one locality we’ve visited before, practically every concretion has a complete crab or ghost shrimp exoskeleton!

So many different types of petrified wood out there. Nice relaxing day at the beach.

Old disabled house bound dusty rusty rockhound here: I lived in the Pacific Northwest for 30 years. I sure do miss it! Love those beaches... the smell... the rocks... the wildlife! I'm in Michigan now. (Up here in Rob's territory, lol!). Thanks for taking me rock hunting back in my old coastal haunts.

I found one of the coolest agates we've found on Beverly beach! It suprised me since it's a popular spot. We're going to try and go back next winter i think. Maybe check out surrounding beaches. Thanks for the video!!

Beverly beach was pretty cool and that piece of teredo wood is an awesome specimen! You usually won't find them that big! So that is a really cool specimen! The agates and other cool cocks you can find there were pretty awesome! And the shells in the rocks were pretty awesome because they were petrified shells, so they were old, because they were in a concretion that fell out of the cliff face and rolled around the ocean a while and came back in and landed on the beach. So it was ancient clams and worth studying! I would love to have taken the clam to study and see what species, the age, and when it lived and why it died! There is a lot to learn about and from fossils! Sea fossils too! Thanks Jared and Sarah for the walk on the beach!

I found this quote about Teredo Wood: North Dakota does not have a state stone or mineral, but Teredo Petrified Wood was designated as the state fossil in 1967.

The Nestucca Formation @34-40MA, siltstone and clam shells; the same character as present-day bays and inlets; mucky and smelly, like the Coos River estuary.

Nice stuff! Thanks for taking us along. I like that you can just walk to the beach from the campground. It'll be fun to see what you find if you go back in the winter as well.

Thx as always for sharing folks! Looked like a relaxing day out hunting and some interesting finds. I've cracked a few concretions and haven't found anything other than little itty bitty shells inside. Have a good weekend ahead!

I'm not much of a fossil person, but I guess those are good? My few are Agatized Fossil Coral, P-wood of course, and a nice Megalodon Tooth! Do you ever visit the Fossil Fest when it's around? I was at one when it was at the Rice Museum years ago. They were using a microwave to crack open their concretions.

We found some fossilized plants in stone, at the Pistol river ( a little further south). I haven’t researched the type yet. What is Laika’s breed? Her howl was so adorable!
