Carol has often mentioned how she doesn't consider herself a singer and often parodies her own voice. She is, in fact, a talented vocalist underneath all of her acting and comedic talents. Beverly, well, She is Beverly Sills. It should be noted that these two lovely, open, generous and, above all, kind, celebrities found each other to be friends. That is how we will all remember them both....as our own friends, and ultimately their greatest gift as artists.

I think singing on key constitutes half of vocal talent, and Carol has perfect pitch. Everything beyond that is open to broad interpretation. Carol's singing voice sounds just like her speaking voice and for the sorts of songs she sings I love it. She and Beverly sound great harmonizing together.

Beverly Sills said in an interview she sang with many amazing people including Luciana Pavoroti. But she said never had as much fun or enjoyed as singing with Carol.

For all those who believe opera stars are stolid, Beverly showed us again, years after her special with Carol at the Met, that she had a great sense of humor. :)

When Eydie gorme' first started to appear on Carol Burnett's many shows as a guest, she was very nervous singing with one of the top 3 iconic singers in the world) Carol Burnett told Eydie gorme' that she was embarrassed to sing with her. (Eydie so very great with her absolute perfection and her almost inhuman breath control with!)😳🙄 This is what Eydie said to her : you are an excellent and amazing singer. You don't have to ever be embarrassed singing with anyone!!! (This is what Steve Lawrence said!)🤔🤗👍

To Felipe ... yes, it was Scotto. She sang "Over the Rainbow" late in the concert. I was actually in the audience as a very young singer in New York.

Was that Renata Scotto in a white evening gown, seated next to Bubbles?
@wotan109503 жыл бұрын
Yes! She sang an operatic version of “Somewhere over the Rainbow,” that was so over the top (although she was a great artist), other performers on that stage even mentioned it in their books! Eileen Farrell said she nearly died laughing.

I guess I’m odd man out here. I adore Beverly Sills, and it’s no surprise she’s such a good sport. But this medley and its humor is so very tiresome. Glad I wasn’t there in person.
