It happened to me i was like wtf 😒 they stole $100 I will never buy no gift cards they are not safe I called customer service they said to investigate we need your name number address your day of birth I was like no way I don't give my personal information to some unknown representative who knows what they will do with my personal information I don't trust no vanilla Gift cards I don't trust no Visa gift cards they are not safe I hope all this scammers get caught and put in jail where they belong.

Best way is to buy the ones in the back n get cards that are sealed. Most retailers fo not offer fraud protection or refund. So u pretty much buy on ur own risk.

It's best to use a credit card? lol don't listen to this lady unless y'all wanna be in debt. NEVER purchase a credit card. If you're not using cash or your debit card then you're already at risk. Go ahead and purchase a credit card because having one already says you already can't afford that item and that's why you're borrowing the money in the first place.

Uhm NO. A credit card is safer than a debit card since it is not connected to your bank account. You don't need to carry around a thousand dollars in cash....get mugged......use your credit card, the purchase is insured with many card companies in the event something happens with the purchase or the transaction. When the card bill shows up....pay it with the thousand dollars which has been sitting safely in your bank account.

+Tyler Campbell Pretty much every wealthy person in the world has multiple credit cards. Having a credit card does not mean you cannot afford something. Your post is sheer ignorance. Many people use it for convenience, pay it off at the end of the month so there is no interest and get 1-2% cash back, along with other perks that you will not get with cash. Sounds like you have never owned a credit card.

That's why I prefer gift cards that hide the barcodes and have a magstripe instead even though Mag stripes are still skimable thieves are less likely to swipe a gift card and you have to scratch to reveal the code to enter online

From the buyer's perspective, giving money as a gift isn't even HALF as fun as buying gift cards for the person. Also by giving a gift card, you're helping the store of said gift card to stay in business.

If you use the gift card to buy something online instead of putting ur real credit card info it’s safer to use a gift card you just put the numbers of the card and ur address and that’s all.

We just gifted a Home Depot gift card that was purchased at a Fred Meyer store for $100. When they used it, there was only 17 cents in the card. We went back to Fred Meyer where we purchased it. They said they are aware of that problem. They did not refund our money, but gave us a phone number to call. I will report this to our local law enforcement and our local news stations. And, no more gift card purchases from us from here and on until a better system can be put in place to avoid this problem.

In the UK, you have to scrape off a metallic strip on top of a number, which makes it incredulously obvious if it is stolen, as it cannot be replaced or repaired easily.

Here in Sweden, the gift card does not work until you pay the money and then they activate the code so it works, here is a simple fact. Non-paying gift cards will still be inactivated until you pay the money. after you pay they will activate it and the money that you paid goes to the gift card itself. Paid gift cards is an activated one and mostly secured ones, and the code will work, because you have exchanged your cash to an digital money. If you don't use your gift card for 48 hours then there is a change that is has been expired and mostly are no longer valid for use.

The gift cards in the UK are suppose to be scratched off to get the number. It will be impossible for the thieves to actually take the number unless they scratch it.

In Game they now don’t have gift cards on the shelf they just have the card saying how much it is so when you buy it they give you a receipt with the code on instead
