Very relevant, my worst crash after several thousand miles , was on a sidewalk going 3mph.. broke my coccyx tailbone bone . Worst pain ever, couldn’t walk for a day!

I've crashed one week ago riding just speed of faster walking. I've twisted my knee - my ligaments torn, operation ahead. My fault... I was quite tired and didnot respect it. I didnot managed to step out of the wheel in time ... one leg continued on it in a cicle. I met a man who has riden a car too tired ... he crashed as well, he is on wheel chair now. So beware of this, respect your body talk.

Very important and true, thank you! 10 km/h feels slow as hell, but it's also average adult running speed (6 minute kilometer). Very easy to take for granted.

Yeah it’s amazing how riders drop their guard when riding at slow speed. I am guilty of that too on several occasions.

Had lots of low speed crashes with minimal damage or run outs.. and one low speed crash (cutout from overpower with acceleration + unseen pothole) that resulted in significant knee damage. Thankfully was wearing a helmet and wrist guards so it wasn't catastrophic as both took heavy impact but I will never be riding without CE approved knee protection again.

I totally agree. I used to think it was such a pain to have to put on so much gear just to ride a wheel. Having experienced several close calls myself as well as seeing so many injuries on the posts from what seemed like a simple ride, just the couple minutes spent in gearing up is a trivial matter now. The big price we pay for quality gear is a moot point compared to what could happen in a serious fall without gear. Enjoy and have safe rides!

Yeah those low speed crashes can be quite debilitating. If you haven’t seen a pain specialist yet, please do. If you fit the criteria, he could inject cervical epidural steroids which could decrease the inflammation and swelling hence decrease the pain and discomfort. I appreciate the kind words. Ride safely!

i once broke my 2 ribs just by falling while WALKING lol. I didn't notice improvised cement speed bump which was almost invisible due to no markings whatsoever, I tripped on it and fallen face forward, skin on various places on both hands tore up on rough cement and I felt pain on chest side - ribs. So yeah, low speed falls are no joke.

What are your thoughts on jogging (10km p ) and running (20km ph)? Never saw anyone run wearing a helmet. Also millions of people ride bikes with no protection or just a bike helmet. I think that training how to jump from the wheel and how to fall are important. For speeds lower than 20km ph many people dont wear any protection or just 1 piece (either helmet or gloves-wrist guards for example). It is not unreasonable to me. It is up to the individual. While it is true that riding anything is riskier than walking and running, to be protected from all possible things would be too much (for example eye visor for unexpected branches, which can take poke your eyes), hips, back, ribs, etc. By that I mean just the regular helmet, gloves, knee and elbow pads dont cover everything and it can be a teaching moment when you fall at slow speeds and hit a spot not covered by the gear... So, in my opinion, higher speeds are definitely more dangerous, also those involve exposure to cars. Even with gear, an accident going 60km ph or 80km ph, can get you broken stuff. To me, higher speeds make as much as gear as possible mandatory. Slow speeds not. Being aware and not filming oneself and goofing around make a difference... Part of the advantage of the wheel is having both hands free, which is negated when carrying a stick (add to that talking and checking the speed which take concentration OFF the road). Please know I appreciate your videos and input, you are a nice refreshing contribution to the EUC world. Cheers

@@segundacuenta726 I think at least from my experience that the number one cause of an accident when riding is distraction. So many people get easily distracted. I am guilty of that myself too. I had cracked my rib when I fell on the side after a pedal clip when I was riding my KS18L 5 years ago. I was preoccupied while riding slowly and did not notice the bridge I was crossing had side supports that protruded on the path. That fall hit my ribs hard. I actually had a few milliseconds to think to not put my hand out to prevent a possible wrist fracture. I thought that by just falling on the side I could avoid any injuries. Unfortunately, my ribs felt the brunt of the impact. Since then in 2019, I studied some basic Parkour moves should similar falls occur. It wasn’t too far from what I knew from my youth since I am a black belt in TaeKwon Do and also was taught judo techniques. The safety fall just needed to be modified for landing on concrete. We can get hurt no matter what our speed is. When I ride slowly I sometimes don’t wear a helmet but always wear wrist guards. For faster rides, full gear all the way. Other key things to consider are situational awareness. It is also just as important to learn to fall properly as well as mastering the EUC.

Adam what's your personal opinion on the assassin?
@AdamU1016
@AdamU1016 Жыл бұрын
I actually briefly discussed about the Assassin A2 at 3:15. Roger dissected that A2 and found nothing wrong with the wheel. Having said that, most likely Marty overtorqued the A2 to cutout. Marty has all kinds of powerful wheels in his stable. That A2 was a new wheel and it cutout shortly after riding it. He was still trying to get to know the wheel and it did not take long to cut out. Marty was used to powerful wheels and I think overestimated the torque of the A2 and overdid it. Same exact thing happened to me. I had the Nikola and MTen. Even though I had the MTen for about a year before the cutout, my enthusiasm in teaching my nephew and my being used to the zippiness and power of the Nikola just led to my overtorquing the MTen3. I actually want to buy an A2 once someone buys my MTen3. 🥳😂
