As a Bulgarian, locals tell stories about them being fairy-like goddess that are very beautiful. I've never heard this version before, but you know every story has it's true core. Most of the time they're a lot darker than the version we spread around the world

I know that samodivas are like mermaid sirens. They lure you in with beautiful dances around a lake, wearing beautiful flowercrowns and long white dresses. And once the person is close enough *BOOM* they're gone

I don’t know much about Vasil but Ivan is pronounced in English as she did in the video. It is just pronunciation differences because a word or name is a loan word.

So I'm Bulgarian and I'm honestly so happy to see some Bulgarian folklore being featured in Something Scary! When I was little my grandma used to tell me all kinds of stories about the Samodivas, the Forest Spirits and (the one that scared me the most) an old man that would kidnap children in the dark called Torbalan. The country is full of all sorts of tales and folklore! P.S.: seriously, I was so scared of Torbalan that my grandma would always say "if you don't eat your dinner Torbaln will come and get you" and I couldn't sleep because I was petrified just thinking about him 😅

Samodivas are different. They don't attack if you don't spoil their latenigt rituals. It's believed that they are spirits who protect the forest. They danse late at night over a fireplace without touching the ground, the only only thing they are wearing is a long shirt. Here in Bulgaria people believe that they help us but if we turn against the forest they ceep us away by taking victims. P. S. Sorry if my English is not that good but I tried my best
